They really shouldn’t keep these items locked behind a promotional code, they should put them in the shop sooner or later, i mean look at the current state, people got to buy nail polish just to get a simple coating lol, this is kinda getting out of hand, and even now ebay prices are insane, some are priced in the thousand range, so if they put them on the market that anyone can buy would kill the second hand market, i get people who bought the items to get the in game items might be salty but they got it first, maybe a year after it came out they can put the items in the shop

I think they said promo items will be made available later as some promotions are only running in certain regions, e.g. rockstar codes in US and Canada.

Oh boy I’m sure that will make people happy, especially the people that blew tons of money on preorders, merch, promo food and drink items, and partnered products like Razer
That sounds like the kind of thing 343 would do though, since they did that with MCC, giving away all the hard earned armors and promo armors for everyone to use

I think it’s cool that players can get bonus stuff outside the game just for purchases of other items they may want. I bought some stuff and got this crazy Mongoose skin called pop dollie.
If they sell it in store then so be it, but I like that I got it free with items I was buying anyway. It’s pretty unique too, have only seen one other person using it so far.

NO. They did this with the helioskrill armour. They ended up putting in a re pack because of your exact thought process

I don’t think watchdog would be included as that’s still available to anyone who wants to go and grind in halo 5.
Everything else on your list could be made available later though. This is why I didn’t purchase any codes on eBay. You’d only be paying to get it earlier than everyone else.

Also jokes aside, Halo 5 is mad dead. I could never find matches outside of some Custom Games. Good luck finding matches outside of the US in a year from now, if you are still grinding 8 hours a day with XP boosts. My bet is 343 will Helioskrill Watchdog for everyone. The game was only so active up until Infinite, because people believed you only had til December 8th to get SR 152.

i worked my A off to have that armor day one later i found out it was in the req system the whole time, same with hunter armor that i got as a pre order bonus from GameStop. to say i was annoyed is an understatement

Exclusive digital items suck; it’s just artificial scarcity. Everything should be obtainable even if a heavy grind may be required for some items, so long as it’s possible to obtain that’s all that matters. Even though I’ve got a few promotional items myself I don’t feel the need to demand that they should be locked away from everyone else forever in an attempt to feel like a little snow flake in a video game.
For items such as Watchdog, or Halo 5’s Helioskrill a challenge of equal difficulty should be the alternative method of unlocking it. The opportunity to unlock it should always be present, but by no means should something that originally called for a difficult challenge be just handed out randomly just because. As for the others there was never an actual challenge created for them. I don’t see a reason why they couldn’t return with some kind of challenge to be met instead. Those who had them previously will have the luxury of not having to re-earn it, and having owned it for much longer.
However I would like to address the “unique” situation with the glittery purple… The grown men going out to buy makeup for a video game skin are down bad. I think the humiliation there has earned an exception for exclusivity. As for the rest like AFK streams to get skins, pre-order, etc will all eventually make a return.
Promotion items are useless, people aren’t going to play a game because they see it on a chip bag.

Nah, but people that play that game are more likely to buy those chips. I bet Rockstar made a killing on their promo. I bought 3 cases from Amazon, and I don’t even drink energy drinks often. I still have over half a case left. The 3 12 packs of swaps per case alone was a steal. I have over 100 swaps.

People everywhere outside Europe can’t get Pop Dollie, so I get where you’re coming from. I had to make a fake Canada account for the Rockstar promo. Acquiring the energy drinks is one thing, but acquiring local toy shop promos in other countries is another, or Kroger for example. Idk what Kroger even is, and they had promo coatings. Some kind of supermarket.

You shouldn’t be splitting up cosmetics between people just for promotions.
If you’re gonna do promotions, it would be much better to just have credits, that way they can get what they want but everyone gets the chance to get an armor

At this point, 343 could give everyone the WCT coatings for free, and I would be happy just to even have them. We bought all these Jazwares figures and swords in 2020 and still don’t even have our coatings
