Promos outside the USA?

I’m not trying to flame or to complain here in any way.

I just wondered why most Req pack Promos seem too be US exclusive? Monster energy is US exclusive, Axe too and Hotpokets might be too (I don’t even know what those are exactly).

Note: I’m talking about REQ’s that come with consumable items, not the ones that come with last light, headsets or guides.

Personally I don’t have any problems with this, because I already get 14 premium packs, the one from HC and one from Last Light (thanks to the person who donated the code to me). I’m going to play this game a lot anyways so it isn’t a real issue to me but I can imagine others being -yoinked- about this.

So my question is, is there a specific reason for this regional exclusivity? And what are your opinions on it?

Might simply be due to foreign trade laws. I’m not well versed in them, but it always seems to be some difficulty in giving things away for free over seas.

It kinda sucks that these things always seem to be US exclusive. I regularly drink Monster and use Axe as my deo so I really feel like I’m being left out of things…

Yeah I also thought about this as the reason…

And I can totally understand what you mean, over here in Germany we never really see any promos and get bad voiceovers on top of it (Arbiter sounds like a boy in H5).

I’m in the Netherlands and they do have Black Ops 3 codes on some things. So why not do the same for Halo?

I heard the germand voice over for Arby by the way. It was hilarious!

Hm I don’t know maybe we could get an official statement on it but it’s unlikely…

Yeah I really hope the English voiceover is included too, so I just have to listen to it during my first playtrough to get all lore points and then switch to English.
Is there a dutch voiceover or do you just get an English version?

Monster energy Us exclusive, -Yoink-.

We always get the games in English, thankfully. Although I did notice with Halo 4 on the 360, when your region was set to Dutch, the subtitles and text (assasination, headshot, etc, etc in mp games) would be in Dutch, which were such literal translations I couldn’t help but giggle.

As im studying business law i dont see what possible “setbacks” there could be for codes being over seas, i think the more logical answer is that their are more people in the U.S then in the u.k etc. Making it obvious to promote in the more populated country as this will also increase sales and brand awareness. As i live in the U.K myself it really sucks not having any form of promo the most we had was mountain dew with halo 4 and that was only to win a copy of the game. Guess im moving over to the U.S before H6 comes out. Us peeps outside the U.K just need to pray that someone in the U.S is willing to give us codes at best. Like some sort of halo Jesus…

Oh the translations were terrible. It made me gag… Switched my xbox 360 language to english immediatly for that sole reason.
I hope we can just set the language differently within the game instead of having to switch up console settings like we had to do with H4.

Cool I’m starting to study the same next week:D
And I guess you’re right with your theory, which means we’re -yoinked- just because we’re not living in the US. I’m okay with the H5 REQs not being available to us, because they don’t include anything special but generally speaking it’s a bit unfair…

the only non-us promo are the stickers in doritos packages in mexico.

Ireland had Mnt Dew halo 3 promos. Don’t see any Halo 5 promos yet. I’ll post here if I find anything.

Hey Noble! And honestly; the only reason I can think of is 343 & MS are USA based companies. Much like Sony releasing exclusive consoles and promos to Japan.

They could have included Canada for those. Much like destiny/red bull did. …but they didn’t.

Agreed; but, please understand that my statement is not to be taken as fact and is simply speculation, I do not represent 343 industries.

I wasn’t implying you were.

It’s really annoying that there’s been no word on any REQ promos for the UK/Europe and hell i’ve been so many Mountain Dew Black Ops 3 promos around atone of stores that it can’t be anything about over seas trading.

I’m going to guess 343i or Microsoft see that the US are going to buy more copies of Halo 5 then over here in the UK or even in Europe, so they have no intention giving any promos over here as it may be a waste of there money…but i’m going to guess that a few months down the line we’re going to have another promo like with Halo 4, which was to win a copy of it and not give us any in-game items or REQs.

But it was a English man who created the Xbox and funnily enough the play station, we should get some dibs rights on some codes :frowning:

Hey nice to see you! (:

Yeah you’re most likely right with this, but I think they should reconsider this tactic because if they want to attract other markets too they just have to do promos there, but I never even saw a tv ad or something over here in Germany. No promo -> no attention (except from Halo fans)
