Ok so I am a pretty avid follower of Halo lore and I must say I never liked the promethians, but that aside in Spartan Assault there are apparently promethians on the Halo ring from Halo 2…how does this make sense? I’m sure theh could make it make sense somehow but I feel like they really need to stop adding there own spin on things when it is just not needed and I feel like this is just an example as to why…they don’t make sense to be there.
I think you mean Spartan Strike, and that’s actually the halo ring from halo 4, not halo 2.
The Prometheans appear on Gamma Halo (Halo 4 ring) NOT Delta Halo (Halo 2 ring), and it happens around the same time as the events of Halo 4 (given the ring is still on Khaphrae system); how would you even miss that? the first level of the second operation is called, literally, “Gamma Halo”

Until Halo 4: confined to Requiem. Didact obviously took some to Earth with him on Mantle’s approach, but whether or not they operated beyond his control outwith Requiem or Mantle’s Approach at that point is unknown. Jul M’dama presumably took many with him during the destruction of Requiem and based on his holding of half the Janus Key may have had a way of a controlling them. Once Cortana gains control of the Domain though they can appear anywhere basically.
The reason why Prometheans were not on the rings, was they were!(Probably) The only reason they are active today was because of the diadact, he must have had something to do with them waking up. So in theory, all the rings that we see quite possibly have Prometheans running around.

My guess is through some kind of data network. Prometheans, after all, are simply data and hardlight. A Promethean could have it’s AI/essence transferred to another Forerunner installation, and it’s body could be made out of hardlight on-the-spot.

It’s possible the Janus key made Prometheans friendly, and even follow orders, but maybe not follow him at all.

Well we know they were following his orders until Cortana took control of the Domain. It can be surmised this is because he had pledged his forces to the Didact during the events of Halo 4 - hence once the Didact was missing and then dead he took over, hence calling himself the “Didact’s Hand”
