Promethian's backstory seems like a rip off

The Promethians were ancient humans (and even some modern ones if I understood Spartan Ops correctly) turned into synthetics as a result of the Didact’s work.

To me the whole notion of humans being turned into synthetics seems like a slight rip off from Mass Effect where the Reapers turned humans and the other races into synthetics.

What is your take on the subject?

Mass Effect turns humans into cyborgs essentially.

Prometheans are purely robotic with a human AI inside*.

*A human AI being a human that was transformed into data.

Eitherway, the concept has been around far longer than Mass Effect has.

Its still the same notion either way with turning a race into something else.

Not really. I actually think of Brainaic when I think about the Prometheans. Storing information in digital form while deleting the original. If the Didact were a machine it’d fit almost perfectly.

While as refreshing as it is, it’s sort of the same COD=Halo argument. Halo is copying COD because theirs guns in it.

I take it you never played the older games that have been around a lot longer than halo and mass effect? Heck lets blame this on copying the Borg from star trek, they take humans or other races and turn them into the borg, CURSE YOU BIOWARE AND HALO for COPYING STAR TREK

/sarcasm

I suppose Halo also copied guns from CoD, and spaceships from Star Wars, right?

The concept of dead people being repurposed by evil forces has been around for a very long time, and is very common, and this is just another variation. A common variation at that. Sure, its’ not original, but its’ not ripping off an original idea either.

Even that was copied from Dr who.

I know lol it’s just an example, you trace enough things back and everyone has something that could be considered close to someone elses idea.

Seems like you know nothing other than the game’s lore. There’s more to it.
