Just wanted to know what you all think of them, since most of the talk here is about War Games, and the Spartan Ops discussions barely mention them.
I think it’s an ironic change from Flood, since instead of endless hordes of cannon fodder that has potential to majorly damage you, we are now up against relatively smaller numbers of teleport trolling walking tanks.
I personally find them ridiculously fun to fight, and I love their weapons. (Though on Legendary, headshotting the Crawlers is the only way to go. Only difficulty where I don’t ditch my Magnum until it’s depleted.)

Where have you been? It’s Campaign that’s barely mentioned here. Spartan Ops is an equal contender with War Games for discussion.
Anyways, I find them somewhat enjoyable but not as engaging or intimidating as the Covenant.
I find their fast shield recharge nullifies approaches with most weapons other than Promethean weapons. It’s also cheap, but not nearly as cheap as those Elite Generals with fuel rod guns.

The Covies are great to fight and undoubtably the best enemy in all the halo games (exception of Halo 3 with the Brutes).
But the Prometheans are so satisfying to kill, they just pop and incinerate. I just love watching the incineration animation, it’s so cool to see.
Their sheilds may recharge fast, but considering there size and speed and how non agressive most of their units are, I think its a fair compromise for their sheilds to recharge rate to be up. The player is usually most of the time on the offensive against them, Prometheans fall back very often.

I never really notice that. It happens quite quickly. But I do enjoy the assassination animations on Knights, particularly that sword stab.
They suck as enemies. The suck as a character force in the universe. Their leader sucks.
Basically they’re under whelming and obnoxiously cheap. (Teleporting two stories up and behind a rock, recharging then coming back to the fight is no bueno. Especially when they have a shotgun and teleport behind you. Or do that 360 degree burst melee thing that shoves you away. Sniper crawlers is silly. They have no tell and can just take you out from nowhere.)

They are boring and monotonous to fight. Personally I wouldnt be upset if i never saw another one again. Gotta love teleporting bullet sponges, they dont offer a challenge besides the artificial kind. By that i mean every fight is the same of take out the crawlers, watchers, then knights and are not difficult outside of the fact that they are bullet sponges.

> i cant stand prometheans. they are annoying and not very fun to fight. give me covies any day.
Agreed. My problem is not about how hard they are to kill but I’m constantly sick of fighting things that constantly teleport everytime I get near them on any difficulty to the point where it gets to the point of waiting, shooting every 5 seconds…
I think they could have been more interesting to fight, and the reason they aren’t as interesting as I’d like them to be is because the lack of enemy variety and weapon variety.
The Covenant is fun to fight because each species has a role. While each Promethean also has a role, there’s a lot of overlap because there’s only three different types.
I’m also severely disappointed at the lack of a Forerunner vehicle.
The Spartan Ops discussion is much more discussed in the Halo Universe section than it is in the Halo 4 section.
I love fighting the Flood, and really want them back. However, Prometheans are very nice supplements for now. I love it when a Knight Battlewagon Flood-jumps after me, then I dodge it, and then start fist-fighting it head on, screaming “you want some of this!?” Either I win that epic fight, or the Knight just Yoink-slaps me out of the way. Either way, I always love those engagements!
The tactful fighting 343 promised is great but isn’t as evident. They should be tough to take down but not infinitely powerful in damaging you. Half the time I just spray and pray. No ‘take out crawlers first, throw grenade, take out watcher, easily dominate the Knight’. It’s just shooooooooot pew pew.
Biggest problem with Prometheans is the difficulty in telling what weapon they are using. Far, far too often I push up on a Promethean Knight only to get gibbed by a shotgun.
Covies worked well because their swords or hammers were clearly visible. That scattershot is just an annoyance because it looks like a light rifle at a glance.
But I find Prometheans more enjoyable than Flood. Strafing backwards while spraying =/= interesting to fight.
