Prometheans

So why didn’t we see promethians on a halo ring before Halo 4? they are forerunner, the ring is forerunner, why didn’t the forerunners place promethians to guard the Flood?

The prometheans were a class of forerunners which I thought exiled themselves when the Halo array fired.

It’s because they were a creation of the Ur-Didact specifically close to the end of the Forerunner-Flood war. Many of those who were composed came from the organic Warrior-Servants that were lead by the Didact. As a whole this class was politically embroiled against the Builders on what strategic approach to take in combating the Flood. They advocated for shield worlds like Requiem which would be used for the caretaking of refugees while simultaneously functioning as operational centres. The Didact found the idea of weapons of mass destruction like Halo to be abhorrent. It’s only natural that he would choose not station his precious armiger forces on those constructs. Besides would whatever have remained of the Builder class have accepted any garrisons of Prometheans on their precious rings?

Were there going to be Promtheans on Halo then it would likely occur under the control of Cortana who doesn’t harbour the same kind of inhibitions as an extinct socio-political class of Forerunner from 100,000 years prior. I’m sure we can expect to see the Prometheans again in Infinite. It’s whether fans will enjoy seeing them again that’s the question. I don’t believe they were cared for in Halo 5 but then neither was the Flood after Halo CE and look how much eagerness has been expressed for them to make a comeback.

I always thought that the Prometheans were more soldiers, used for offense while the Sentinels were used for defense and maintenance of the rings. Maybe the Prometheans were looked badly upon by most of the Forerunners and so they preferred the Sentinels.

Composed Prometheans are Didact’s pet project. It was birth a time where he was in political conflict with the rest of the ecumene council. There wasn’t many to be mass produced. After his wife found out he was imprisoned and his forces reduced further in lethality.

There was no way any would be stationed on Halo because he despise their use.

Prometheans were created right at the end of the Forerunner flood war. The Didact didn’t have enough time to see his plans through to the end as his wife shot him twice for composing the humans she was keeping safe on Zeta.

The New Forerunner council or whatever remained of them would have been completely against the idea of Prometheans as well and would have had them destroyed as not only were there existence completely against the mantle, they were also the result of the Didacts absolutely destroyed mental state.

In summary he didn’t have enough time to station them around the galaxy and the Prometheans he had were left at Requiem by his wife, too look after him

I hope this answered your question

Because halo 4 makea no sense

The shield-worlds (most of them) were more Didacts thing, and the rings were more the builder’s thing. And the Prometheans were Didact’s thing too. That’s why they first appeared at Requiem which is the shield world where the Didact’s cryptum was located

There’s plenty of sense to be had, just look at the other answers in this thread.

Its not like the bungie games were terribly logically sound either.

This. In addition to everyone else’s notes on how Promethean soldiers were created last minute by the Ur-Didact. Take note that Sentinels were recognised in the Covenant religion as the “Holy Warriors of the Sacred Rings”, akin to how a monitor like Spark or Tangent was referred to as “Oracle”. Sentinels can perform maintenance and carry out the duties of the monitor autonomously (even when the monitor is absent/captured, like in Halo 2, or in hibernation, like in Halo CE:A) whereas it hasn’t really witnessed if Prometheans can do such tasks besides fighting.

Since the Prometheans were created last minute and weren’t mass produced, there wouldn’t be much to go around to place some on every ring - as well as how Prometheans didn’t have much to do with the Halo’s in the first place. Prometheans were also shunned by the Librarian since the Ur-Didact composed her small human civilisation without consent to make more soldiers. It’s also made prevalent in the books and Halo 4 terminals that the Ur-Didact was against the Halo’s as he believed it went against the Mantle and he had a negative relationship with Faber, the Master Builder who commissioned the array; who was also his political rival. Makes sense when you piece the lore together.

Because the Prometheans were basically confined to Warrior-Servant Shield Installations. The Halos are a construct of the Builders. As such their own security measures were deemed enough (sentinels and enforcers - Monitors existed for important installations and weren’t necessarily restricted by what caste made the installation).

The Builders were the most powerful Forerunner caste before their inevitable end.

The Prometheans were designed to seek and destroy moreso than guard and study.
