When they are talking about damage types they talk about how they are going to make it way better in infinite. Does the confirmation of a light rifle mean prometheans are actually coming to infinite?
The light rifle might just be for multiplayer. Just like the gravity hammer in Guardians.
And where was this confirmed?
There was a gravity hammer in Halo 5, but no Brutes. Maybe the light rifle will be similar.

And Halo 4 as well…
Not sure about the prometheans appearing. Maybe their weapons but considering 343 wants to take a more classic approach, it looks like this is going to be between the UNSC and the Banished. Then again one of the writers they have worked with the Arkham series and specialized with incorperating multiple factions so maybe they might surprise us somewhere in the campaign.
I’ve heard rumors of Medicant Bias ( I hope that’s how it’s spelled) appearing in the game. He’s a fourunner AI. Does that count?
Pometheans may be in the game in a smaller way than they were in previous titles.
I think we’ll see them just not as much.
I hope it doesn’t… was not a big fan of them.
343i’s Prometheans are terrible enemies. No strategy required to kill them and they fire undodgeable explosives without warning. Hope they get axed completely.
I want the Prometheans back. I never thought I would say that, but I do. I want closure. It would suck if they weren’t in the campaign somewhere. I don’t want 343i to abandon the Halo 5 story line. It ended on such a cliffhanger, after all. I want the Infinite campaign to put a rest to the Prometheans. It doesn’t have to eliminate them, just bring a finish to their story. Just bring an ending to Halo 5. Please. I want to see Cortana either defeated or something. You can’t just plop the Prometheans in front of us and then pull them away on a cliffhanger and then probably tell the ending in a book. Yeah, they suck to fight against. They are worse than the Flood and less fun. I don’t see them back, also, because of the Art Style changes. I could be wrong, but the direction that the game looks to have taken (being a reboot) I just doubt their return currently.
TLDR, I want the Prometheans back to finish their story, but I’m not sure how likely that is.
Perhaps the Prometheans’ return will be more of a surprise, like the Flood was in CE (they weren’t in the marketing, afaik).
I agree it would be very jarring to have them suddenly vanish after their heavy presence in 4 and 5. While endlessly controversial, I would still like to see them in Infinite, if only for consistency.

Yeah same. If they’re gonna get rid of them, let US get rid of them through the story, rather than just being all like “Oh uh, they’re not there. Because reasons that we’ll tell you later. Or won’t tell you. But it happened off-screen and you’ll need to read a book to know why.”
I’d like to see them though so we can have more multi-faction battles and whatnot. UNSC vs ALIENS is cool and all that, but then you could have UNSC and/or Swords vs Banished vs Flood vs Prometheans. Besides which I never found them that bad to fight? I honestly had a less fun time with the Halo 2 Brutes and the Halo 3 Flood. One common complaint I hear about the Prometheans is that they’re damage sponge fights. But, Brutes tend to be that too - and most of the Flood are as well. The Pure Forms being a horrible example, like the sniper ones that climb up onto a wall, take forever to kill, and snipe you from across the map? Then get resurrected by an Infection Form a minute later while you’re busy with the six other sniper forms and the one that just transformed into a Tank and is wailing on you and laughing off your shotgun blasts?
Then there’s “Besides, they’re just robots…” except the Sentinels are ‘just robots’ too? And I remember a common criticism against Halo - usually from people who weren’t into the game that much / at all - back in Halo 2 days where the Flood were “just space zombies” to people. And in-game? They pretty much are. Most of the Flood’s most interesting aspects come from the extended lore, which casual passerby’s wouldn’t know. Same with the Prometheans - the bulk of the actually interesting stuff about them comes from outside the gameplay.
“Fun to fight” is subjective, and everyone’s going to have a different opinion. Personally, I don’t find the Flood fun to fight at all. Not in CE, not in 2, and definitely not in 3. They make for great enemies in Halo Wars though, and could be a good Firefight-style enemy, but in general I just don’t enjoy fighting them. Sometimes though part of me feels the main reason why the Prometheans are hated so much is that they felt like a ‘replacement’ for the Flood, rather than how they play.

Shotgun/Sword to the face was the only real way to beat most Flood forms, unless you were packing heavy weapons - the Tank form it was just “shoot it until its dead because its a literal tank”. They’re really not all that different in that regard.
The Prometheans do give warning though, in that they glow distinctly before firing their power weapons?

I should have been more specific.
Let’s take Halo 4 for instance. The only viable strategy is to kill all the Watchers first, then headshot nearby Crawlers, and finally unload into the Knights. If you don’t follow this strategy, you’ll have Watchers reviving Knights and Crawlers. The only strategy for Knights is to shoot until they die. The thing with the Flood Pure Forms is that they do different things by morphing into other forms. Forgetting that, even the tanker forms only have one thing going for them: they have a lot of health. But, they move slowly and can be ignored while you handle other enemies. Knights have tons of health, use powerful weapons, they teleport, and they can be revived. There’s not much there in terms of weaknesses. I’d argue Crawlers are the only fun enemy to fight, with their one drawback being that mechanical dogs don’t really seem in-tune with what we know about Prometheans from a lore standpoint. Watchers simply fly away whenever you attack them. You need to kill them, but chasing after them means you get killed by other enemies. It’s true, Promethean weapons glow in H4, so that point doesn’t apply to H4.
Let’s go to H5. Fights with Knights are more interesting since they have breakable armor. But, I know you have played WZF. Remember all the times you thought you had the upper hand when you were behind a Knight, only to get your butt whooped because of a sudden shot from an Incineration Cannon? They don’t even look at you or give any sort of indication they are about to fire. A giant ball simply erupts from their vicinity. Add to that the large area of effect and you have something that is nearly undodgeable. The Mythic versions take this one step further by firing a combo Heartseeker / River of Light. Thankfully, they do not teleport. Watchers are much better this time around since they can’t revive, but their near-instant healing powers for their allies are extremely frustrating. Plus, the Mythic versions can heal and shield themselves. I feel like Soldiers were the one enemy 343i gave a lot of consideration to. But, their teleportation is something I do not like. The player should not have to stand around waiting for an animation of unspecified duration to complete, all the while unable to do anything to attack or defend against the same enemy. It’s not good design. Soldiers and Elites both charge while firing, something that is more of a general AI problem since 343i’s Covenant have a lot of issues as well. Once again, Crawlers are enjoyable to fight. They’re easy enough while alone, but you get swarmed quickly if you get cocky and take on a whole pack.

I agree, though I’ve always found every faction fun to fight, CE flood being their best iteration, in my opinion.
Some advice, by the way, since it sounds like you need it: Most flood pure forms go down pretty fast with the use of grenades, all except frags killing ranged forms with a single stick, while the energy sword (and brute shot, to a lesser degree) is guaranteed to kill any pure form in a single swing. Basically, use grenades a lot and hang onto the sword in Cortana, and you should be sailing pretty smoothly on Legendary if you’re good.

they might come back in infinite as the third faction but I want somebody else that is not the prometheans
I’d rather that not happen. They’re the worst enemies of the series, especially watchers.

Screw the sword, grab a Brute Shot and use the melee on that thing. Even with Mythic on it kills Tank Forms in 1 hit. The melee also dismembers Combat Forms very easily, and you can dismember a whole crowd of them with 1 or 2 shots. In addition, a well-placed shot can knock Ranged Forms off of walls and ceilings to make them easier to deal with. When dealing with Flood in Halo 3, the Brute Shot is your best friend.
