As many of you might know, the Promethean’s and the Covenant joined forces midway through Halo 4, once the Didact was released. This kind of disappointed me as it made the Promethean’s fell like replacements for the Brutes, Drones and Engineers, instead of them being their own separate faction. This trend continues in Spartan Ops, only with the Promethean’s being practically incorporated into the Storm Covenant. My question is, do you believe 343 will rectify this some how ( either by having the Promethean’s betray the Covenant at some point, or maybe the Iso Didact might be able to convince them to join his side, If he appears in Halo 5)or will they basically serve as the replacements of the missing Covenant? I would not mind this if it means that the Brutes and Drones can reappear as some other Covenant Remnant that still follows the Prophits, so the 3 way battles can return ( 4 way if the Flood makes a appearance)as well as Brutes being a fightable enemy again.
So what do you all think? Should the Promethean’s return as their own separate faction or should they remain joined with the Storm Covenant and sever as the Brutes, Drones and Engineers replacement.

They don’t serve as a replacement for the Brutes, Drones, and Engineers.

That doesn’t make any sense from a story perspective.

Space Magic.
But seriously, you know how Promethean weapons assemble themselves and Forerunner structures modify themselves? Something like that but it is the Prometheans themselves whose structure is changing.

I think the Prometheans were hard to fight for the wrong reasons. They weren’t doing anything particularly special, like strafing in a manner that made them hard to hit or coordinating with their allies to flank and surround you. They were pretty much bullet sponges who would teleport away when you were close to killing them. In addition, ammo was pretty sparse so I found myself running out of ammo on multiple occasions.

That is just wrong. There are plenty of other enemies in the Halo series that are bullet sponges, and Prometheans are not one of them. It’s so easy to drop a Knight’s shields, and after that, they die in merely a few more bullets. If you’re talking about Legendary then that goes for all other Halo games. Legendary has always made every enemy a bullet sponge.
Funny thing is, the Prometheans do everything you just listed. They DO strafe, and flank you when able. There are multiple occasions where I found the Crawlers trying to surround me or a Promethean Knight flanks around. Teleporting away is a perfectly reasonable tactic for them to use, as well as the Watcher fleeing when low on health. Isn’t that what you do every time you’re about to die? Run away? Why is it so unacceptable when they have some sense of self-preservation too?
The Prometheans in Halo 4 were fine. The way they interacted with each other was interesting and it felt good to kill them. The only problem was that there were only three “species” and could have use more variation.

It just seems like a nightmare to code and animate, that’s all.
Prometheans didn’t join forces with the Covenant, it was the other way around.
After the Didact’s apparent death, it’s unknown why they continued to work with Jul’s forces. possibly the didact left him something.
I can’t see any reason for the Didact’s forces to NOT make use of any others who hate humans. He only wants them dead, and he wants to rule all other races.
Making the Covies ally with the Prometheans so early in the game was a disappointment. And there isn’t much cohesion between the two forces during combat.
