Prometheans are basically the same as the flood

The flood is composed of hive minds that control smaller forms of flood, they multiply by infecting sentient life they come in contact with. The prometheans are pretty much the digitalised version of the flood, they are controlled by a single “mind” and more can be created by composing sentient life. Makes you think about how ironic it is that the didact created those prometheans to fight the flood, it is like fighting fire with fire.

I thought that Prometheans had individual AIs controlling them. Are they actually a hive mind?

Individual Prometheans are indeed individuals. In Spartan Ops, a team of Spartans actually captures a Promethean “soul”, essentially the hardware where the individual Promethean is stored, separate from the hard-light combat forms they use in the field.
That said, Forerunners are somewhat telepathic and the Didact even saw through the eyes of the forces serving under him… simultaneously, and his brain was able to comprehend it and make immediate tactical decisions based on it, so the possibility of some manner of shared thought among the Prometheans is certainly possible,

Was that the Didact’s own ability or was it a perk of his/their armour/ancilla?

I believe there’s some of both. Remember that the Librarian was bit by a Forerunner in Path Kethona, and the enzymes in the spit in her bloodstream transferred the understanding of the other Forerunners’ language.

Pretty sure it was his own ability

They do change color in Halo 4 in response to the didact waking up and taking back control of them, I know that they can have some sort of own thoughts which is shown in Halo 5 with the soldiers and their dialogues but it seems like the prometheans composed from humans just became mindless warriors obeying to a master, be it the didact or cortana.

One of the main things between Prometheans and the Flood us that the Prometheans retain sentience after they are composed. The Prometheans are able to make tactical decisions even after a commanding figure is gone. In the flood, a keymind, proto-gravemind, or gravemind would have full control over the flood. If the gravemind were to disconnect it be destroyed the flood would revert back to the feral stage and try to reform a mind to coordinate. Organisms infected by the flood completely lose sentience and once a species is infected it is considered to have lost its biodiversity and is extinct.

So… you´re saying Didact and Gravemind are the same?

Not quite. The Diadact doesn’t use hive mind control. The Prometheans still retain their sentence while anything infected with the flood loses both sentience and biodiversity.

Dope explanation, nice lad

Not really, but the way the flood and the prometheans work has some similitudes
