Hey guys, I don’t want to complain or anything, I just want y’alls opinions. Do you guys think the Prometheans are overpowered? Heres my reason “I” think they slightly are.
Watchers
-can fly around(not too bad, but when combined with whats below, it’s irritating)
-can fold up and fly away when shot
-take pretty good amount of damage
-can open portals for other prometheans
-can revive that Knight Battlewagon you just wasted two lightrifle magazines on
-Can hardlight shield allies
-can throw grenades back at you (With amazing precision, they WILL hit you in the face if you don’t move)
Knights
-Tough
-Snapshot aim with binary rifles=instant kill the second you peek around the corner
-can teleport away when hurt
-unlimited grenades
-can spawn watchers(battlewagons only can do this)^^^
-can do that thing that scares the crap out of you when they zig-zag at you at light speed
-no easy headshots
Crawlers
-Crazy aim with binary rifle like knights
-nothing else, they are relatively balanced
As you can see, some of them have quite overpowered abilities. I understand 343i’s goal in making it a challenge, but sometimes I feel like they are trying to show off what they can make the enemy do(AI wise). Fighting the prometheans surely aren’t impossible, but are definitly the most irritating hostiles to fight. The most balanced enemies in Halo are the hunters. What do you guys think?
Bro, im with you. Watchers and Crawlers are mostly the pain in the rear end. Knights…so-so. Unless you have a sniper or shotgun, then your ok.
Watcher and Crawlers ar a pain b/c they move like Skirmishers (I hate to say that), and are very hard to shoot at. I can come up with a load of stuff about them, but that’s all i an say…for now.
Knights are intended to be more deadly than Elites by default. They achieve that. Watchers & Crawlers are very, very easy to pick off as long as you’re not mentally handi-capped. Headshot the Crawlers and pick off the Watchers from long range. Then engage the Knights in a 1 v 1 situation.
The only time anything is “Overpowered” is when a Knight Commander uses it’s “shockwave blow-back” move, then jumps away and disintegrates me with a Incineration Cannon. But then again, that’s counter-able with a Hardlight shield or a Thruster Pack.
Binary Rifles have a long wind-up time with an obvious “tell” before they go off, plenty of time to get into cover.
Grunts & Elites with Fuel Rod Cannons are far worse.
Got the “Lone Wolf Legend” achievement on day-1 of launch. Not that hard.
Engaging Knights normally may make them seem smart but if you stick to assassinations and stealth, they’re actually easier.
As for the zig zag attack, simply go behind cover out of sight and they’ll end up doing it in place where they initiate it. I’ve seen it on Midnight with distant Lancers.

Yeah, the range for that attack is off the charts.
Oh and there’s also a certain turning melee all Knights can do that is an instant kill.

And people complain about Legendary Elites being op, lol. Oh and you forgot that the Crawlers comes in packs.
I just thing watchers flying away to outside the map is annoying. Promies are just really hard to kill without a precision weapon. I use to think they were OP but then i learned to counter it.
> What’s this ‘snapshot aim with the Binary Rifle’ everyone’s been mentioning? They are only accurate when you are standing still or running at them in a straight line, and they have to charge up their shot to fire. … The Knight’s power is only from their weapons and their health. They’re easy to kill just by shooting and strafing and only threaten to kill you on their own if they have a light rifle or incineration cannon. In groups they are far more deadly and do present a challenge, as they should. … IMO their AI needs to be modified such that Knights strafe and use cover and Crawlers attack as a group, instead of running at you one at a time. …I apologise for how I’ve had to paragraph this, as Waypoint won’t accept the ‘enter’ key on my phone.
There is a relatively long “wind-up” on the Binary Rifles when the Knights or Crawlers use them, so unless you’re not paying attention it’s not bad at all. Past games snipers have been far worse.
But yeah, the main danger from Knights is there weapons. There A.I. is actually good on Legendary, but unless they’re carrying Scattershots, Incineration Cannon’s, or Binary Rifles, they aren’t that threatening unless they come in small groups with plenty of back-up.
Oh, and they DO use cover and dodge some of your fire. At least on Legendary.
With all that said, I find Knights to be more of a challenge to take out than almost any group of Covenant. Even the largest encounters that are heavily fortified with stationary guns, snipers, and many elites, jackals, and grunts are still easy to dismantle & pick apart. It only becomes difficult when you add Wraith tanks into the mix.
I’ve always thought Knights were a little to over-the-top, especially on Legendary.
-They can teleport out of harms way.
-They have shields.
-They can charge the player incredibly fast.
-They can spawn Watcher enemies.
-They can kill you with one melee shot.
They’re like a combination of elites, brutes, and hunters all rolled into one.
Fine… Here’s how you engage Knights. All you need is a head-shot capable weapon and some sort of close-range damage dealer… Can be a Sniper Rifle, Rocket Launcher, Scattershot, Railgun, Shotgun, or even a SAW or Suppressor if there are no other options. Weapons are littered all over the campaign, so there’s no excuse not to have the proper tools.
Head-shot crawlers -> Pick off Watchers at range -> Engage Knights one-on-one only.
If you can’t create a 1v1 situation, stay at range and pick them (Knights) off. Knights are entirely manageable in 1v1 situations, providing they don’t have a Scattershot or Incineration Cannon. Binary Rifles have to long of a “wind-up” to be a serious threat.
Teleport-Charge: - Run & jump to your right. Simple.
Knight Teleports Away: - Easy to track with positional audio, proper awareness, or even the motion sensor. Knights are easy to rush & melee during this time as there animation takes a second or two, allowing you to break there shields & outright kill them most of the time.
Melee Attacks: - You should only be this close if you have the proper weapon(s) and are going to follow up with a melee attack to break there shields or outright kill them. You shouldn’t be charging anything on Legendary unless you do.
Battlewagons: - Soften up with grenades or powerful weapons, then finish them light rifle fire and headshots… Generally stupid to engage at close range because of there Scattershots and double shield strength.
Commanders: - Kinda screwed unless you’re at long range due to them often carrying Incineration Cannons.
Congrats, you now know how to take on 95% of the Knights you’ll encounter in the Campaign & SO’ps.
> The Supressor is actually an effective last resort close up, combined with melee’s at the right time.
Hardlight Shield makes approaching with this method even easier.
> Oh, and they DO use cover and dodge some of your fire. At least on Legendary.
They ought to at least crouch or reload so I know they’re using cover rather than assuming they’re staring at walls blankly.
> Battlewagons: **- Soften up with grenades or powerful weapons, then finish them light rifle fire and headshots… Generally stupid to engage at close range because of there Scattershots and double shield strength.
I think it’s easier to just stealth them. Or close the distance and rush in when they deploy their Watcher (if they haven’t done so). There’s also taking advantage of their teleport.
Eh, they are jus a bit tough man. I didn’t really notice a difficulty cap between them and the elites, elites maybe a bit harder for me personally, but thats because they scare me… I R SKERD O’DEM LEETS
