Promethean Vision Is Overpowered?

Because of the heavy traffic load during E3, the forums were crapping out on me and going to white screen with a “service is unavaliable” notice.

As such I missed most of the discussion on why PV was overpowered. What I’ve managed to piece together is that PV is overpowered because it lets you see through walls.

I’m confused by this since radar lets you see through walls. In a 360 degree range.

The reason why people say it’s Op because of the fact that it helps you be more aware and sneak up on people which most people think that everyone should start on equal terms and that at this point there is no way to hide from pro-vision.

PV lets you see everyone on the map, motion tracker does not.

It’s a more slightly more detailed, and temporary, Radar that’s limited to your vision cone.

> there is no way to hide from pro-vision.

If your opponent was decent and you popped up on radar and then crouched to hide, they’ll still know you are there.

> PV lets you see everyone on the map, motion tracker does not.

The implication that I’m getting is that PV has unlimited range. From what I’ve seen, it doesn’t.

It’s range is limited to just slightly beyond radar range.

From what I’ve seen it pretty much spans an entire mid-sized map in the E3 build. If this isn’t the case, then I guess I am either seeing imaginary red outlines of guys on the screen, or I have been gifted with X-ray vision. (I hope the latter.) But it sure as hell ain’t limited to MT range.

I think it’s not OP, and infact it’s a good AA. Keeps shady tactics like camping in check. It appears that 343 is forcing you to fight, not camping, therefore keeping players honest. If you move as a team no AA in the game will be able to complete with teamwork.

I just got done watching a clip where guy was running with PV on, seeing two red outlines pop up and a split second later, seeing them pop up on his radar.

You can bypass radar by crouching. Promethean visions completely ruins playstyles that revolve around stealth and maintaining the element of surprise and there is apparently no work around.

Its just a silly idea to put a wallhack in a game. It reduces the amount of viable options and playstyles, rather than opening up new ones.

The only way they are going to spot you behind a wall with PV is if they saw you on radar and then saw your dot disappear or if they make a hail mary.

And isn’t this a good thing? I hear complaints about people camping corners crouched with Shotguns.

The reason why it’s “OP” is because it’s not, “No items, Fox Only, Final Destination”.

You do realize that when they behind walls, PV still barely works? AT best you might see a fleeting outline. Only when people are out in the open do they really become bright red…but at that point why even use PV?

I heard several people declare PV OP because that’s all the MLG pros were using in their gameplay tests.

I was immediately drawn back to preReach when people were arguing the BR was OP because it was the most commonly used weapon. Specifically I was drawn back to a counter argument used against that claim.

“Just because it’s the most commonly used weapon doesn’t make it overpowered.”

half of the map is not the whole map. and that was on heaven. adrift? barley. like a 1/4 of the map.

instead of using teamwork and playing smart i’ll just press LB

> instead of using teamwork and playing smart i’ll just press LB

Because you can’t possibly use teamwork in coordination with PV.
Because you have PV you’ll automatically get a kill.

Oh wait…

not what i meant.

i meant instead using teamwork to get peoples locations i’ll just press LB for Promethean vision, instead of playing smart i can use Promethean vision to show me what they’re doing so that i can always make the right decisions

Will you always make the right decisions? From what I’ve seen, if the enemy is behind a wall, then their color is heavily muted and you might miss them at first glace. You still have to play smart and PV still offers a way to do so. Besides, you might know where they are, but they’ll know you are coming when you use PV.

how exactly can they see that red beam from the visor through a wall? don’t think they can though it looks like they hinted that at release you’ll beable to tell.

right decision depends on the person but instead of making decisions based on callouts and intellect i can use promethean vision tell me which decision to make, i won’t need to listen to call outs on peoples positions because at every corner and ever couple secounds i can active promethean vsision to show me where they’re at, yes the might be a faint red blurr but everything else is black so that red blurry outline will stand out.

its taken away from a core teamwork aspect and instead rewards lone wolfing.
