First off let me say in bigger 4v4+ style playlists, with Promethean vision being about the range of your radar I honestly don’t think it is going to effect gameplay that much and I am ok with it.
Everyone knows doubles is a slower paced playlist but throw PV in the mix I feel like it is going to kind of mess up certain aspects of which makes doubles well… doubles.
There are many times when you and your teammate plan to sneak up on your opponent who has map and power weapon control by crouching, and appearing off the radar to jump out and surprise team shot your opponent, gaining map control. Obviously this isn’t going to work if your enemy can just scan for your coming up.
Another strategy that will be hurt is camping… IT’S A LEGITIMATE STRATEGY!
There are times where you would be up by 1 kill and there is a minute or so left in the game. Why go to them and risk loosing when you already won? So hiding is the best option. It’s kind of self explanatory why PV effects this.
While I know why they put PV into the game - to speed up the game. But some players prefer a slowed down type gameplay that doubles has ALWAYS provided. I will be sad if Halo 4 doubles does not provide the same exhilarating experience that I have come to love.
What do you guys think? Should certain AA’s be eliminated from certain playlists?
You don’t need to eliminate AAs specifically. Just have pre-set loadouts. Done.
Well honestly I really like being able to customize my loadout, pick my AA and starter weapon. I don’t think they are going to do pre-set loadouts in “vanilla Halo 4” playlists.

I agree with everything there. With these loadouts, I can play how I want to play, without being restricted to two weapons every time I spawn.
What
Jetpack + PV + Camo + Regen + Soft kill areas doesn’t sound like Fun
Its the new Action Sack
I agree doubles and PV will probably Not mix well.

Is It the only the range of your radar? In all the videos I seen it reaches across whole the map?
They need a classic version of doubles. There is to many AA’s that would need to be removed for doubles to still be a good competitive environment.

And Sprint? That’s a native ability now. I am not sure if there is an option to enable/disable it.

there better be, sprint alone is very gameplay damaging.

If you really stop when being shot I can live with it.

LMFAO It’s true, but still makes me laugh.
I think Promethean vision will definitely make 2v2 a more aggressive game type so will be interesting how it works out in the long run

It appears that’s how Sprint works in Halo 4. You get shot while running like Usane Bolt and then you’ll start losing that speed right away.
As for the other AA, would Thruster Pack be that bad to include? Things like Auto Sentries and Health Regen are obvious no nos (well at least health regen) in a dubs environment. Hologram is a little bit more deceiving, Jetpack really got nerfed, and Active Camo is bad on spawn. Pro Vision, eh.
It seems like the smaller the map is the more powerful the power ups will be. In a doubles game or a 1v1 it would seem kind of silly for everyone to run around with camo, regen, or PV. It would be like a game of rock paper scissors.
Promethean vision won’t do much to me because all I have to do is look down at my radar because they are most likely walking and thats it.
We’ll from my experience, doubles is about 1/2 camping and trying to outsmart the other team and the other other half trying to out-strafe your opponent. While I agree 100% with you that PV will alter doubles, I don’t think the change is going to bother me that much.

Some AA’S get stronger as the match size decreases. Regen like you said. Holo is always fine, turret is meh. Depends on how strong the turret is. Thruster looks useless so it’s fine. PV could change the dynamics of dubs for the worst(like mentioned)
And camo and jetpack can burn in hell.
I know none of this will happen and I will have to devolve but I will keep my fingers crossed for classic dubs
If they just excluded certain AA’s like PV and Jetpack, I would be ok with it.
> If they just excluded certain AA’s like PV and Jetpack, I would be ok with it.
I think that if they have to go through and cherry pick AAs out of certain gametypes and playlists, it’s an indication that those AAs are poorly designed. Combined with the fact that they are now in our customizable loadouts, it will be very unintuitive for players if certain AAs aren’t allowed in certain areas of the game.
If certain AAs prove troublesome for certain gametypes or playlists, those AAs should either be patched to work more fluidly with the entire game, or they should be removed entirely.
This is partially why I wish they’d have gone a more complementary route with AAs rather than what essentially boils down to giving our Spartans unique super powers. IMO, AAs should complement the gameplay and established Spartan abilities rather than introduce an entirely new dynamic to the game.
I’ll wait to see how the game plays, though.
I agree madman, but I don’t see how much patching they could even do to promethean vision to make it “work for doubles” you can still see through walls when people are crouched…
Only solution I see is it not being able to detect crouching spartans
Don’t hide Spartans!
You can run, but you can’t hide! The Promethean vision will get you muhahahha!
