Promethean units that didn't make Halo 5

Surprised I haven’t seen anything for this yet so I thought I would put it up.

I think they look really cool. I do hope that we see more Promethean vehicles in Halo 6 with them, you know, taking over the galaxy. I mean some of those are almost mini scarabs in scale. I’d prefer if the War Sphinx was more of a mech as opposed to a construct if that makes sense.

Also, somebody in the art team collects Necrons coz that cavalier is like a Necron Lord on roids. Plus the strange centipede monster.

Plus does the Cavalier have a Forerunner skull instead of a human one? Its hard to tell I know but I always wondered why we only see the humans composed. Which is odd for the “Forerunner” faction.

Anyway whats everyones thought?

I wonder if these concepts are even canon, despite the fact they didn’t make it into the final game. But even if they never make it into future media, they could still have been used by the Prometheans during the Human-Forerunner war, and during the Forerunner-Flood war. Those packmasters and cavaliers look really intimidating though. Not so sure I like the design of that kind of war Sphinx, but hey, if it’s practical to the Forerunners, who am I to judge appearances? If it works it works.

Sincerely,

Yeah personally I always assumed the War Sphinx was basically a humanoid mech of some description. Bit more like this.

Not sure if that would be stepping too much on the toes of the Mantis like. Personally I think they should just go full Evangelion and make it more like an upscaled infantry soldier than a vehicle.

I liked the war spinx and the cavaliers skull, would definitely prefer that on the Knights.

A lot of these would have been much more preferable to 7 Warden Eternal fights. Cavalier and Pack Master would’ve been interesting to fight. I can just see another Sentinel Enforcer type of fight with the Socket System vehicle.

Oh… What could have been.

would love to see the Packmaster and Cavalier in later games.

Feels like the cavalier sort of evolved into the Warden.

I’m really shocked how…pressed for time this game feels. So much seems to be cut, unfinished, or rushed for launch date. You can’t even say its due to focus on MP due to how much is missing there and had to come out after launch.

I wish they would “recycle” cut content more often, most of the time the stuff looks great and I want it to be canon. Sure, it may be hard to include something that was cut in future games. If something was cut, it was for a reason. It wasn’t doable gameplay wise. But in other media (novels, comic books, etc), it would be perfectly doable.

Hunters in the Dark was welcome, for example.

have you seen all the Halo CE and Halo 2 cut enemies?

Yes. The difference is those games also came out feeling more full in the end. I’m not just talking of enemies that were cut, but levels, plot lines, multiplayer game modes, etc.

Yeah it is odd that in both Halo 4 and 5 the new faction has still ended up feeling under developed in terms of units.

Just thinking about the rosters atm

Crawler

Elite Crawler

Soldier

Captain

Captain with cannon

Knight

Elite Knight

Watcher

Phaeton

Now, basically a lot of those are just sub-branches of the same class. So really its just

Crawler

Soldier

Knight

Watcher (which is in practice appears very rarely compared to 4)

Phaeton (again very rare vehicle)

So in practice there are only really three enemy types. The Warden is treated as a boss as opposed to simply a tough standard unit; like the hunter for example. So he doesn’t really count.

I mean TBH I can’t understand why they don’t just add the Sentinels to the Promethean unit roster. Its pretty clear that the “Forerunner” faction is thematically focusing on it being an army of AI so it kind of makes sense to add more obviously robotic units into the army. Plus its common sense that Cortana would have control of lots of sentinels.

Kinda sad the War Sphinx didn’t make it. I’ve been wanting to see how it looks for years. I even thought the Guardians at first were the War Sphinxes.

The Cavalier is interesting. It looks like an evolution of this concept art Bungie did before they made Reach.

Maybe if the Prometheans appear in Halo Wars 2, we’ll see some of these?

Also, the reason we only see human skulls for Prometheans is primarily because that’s mostly what the Didact had left; all the original Prometheans were pretty much killed, which made the Didact compose ancient humans, and later the humans at New Phoenix.
