Promethean Soldier's playable?

This is more then likely wishful thinking and coincidence but here’s my findings corroborating Promethean Soldier’s being playable.

  1. Promethean Soldier Sprinting and moving like a player.
  • At 3:04 - 3:09 watch the Soldier on the ramp, he sprints up to a Crawler then begins firing and moving like a player, have we ever seen an AI sprint before?
  1. This picture from The Sprint - Showtime.
  • 3 Soldier’s, all with different base colors, armor permutations, and Hard Light coloring’s (red, blue, and orange) possibly different team colors?
  1. The last Canon Fodder article.
  • Specifically this line “In regards to the Soldier units themselves, there might still be a few details yet to come for those who are paying careful attention.
  1. The fact that proportion wise, Spartans and Soldiers are nearly identical.

What do you guys think? I personally am pretty miffed by Elite’s not being playable. But the Soldier certainly wouldn’t have the issues that precluded Elite’s from returning.

I don’t think they’d be playable. We’re fighting them in campaign, if we don’t have elites we most certainly won’t have Soliders. You’re just looking too far into it. I don’t see what’s wrong with the Spartans and why everyone else always wants to play as something else all the time lol

doubt it, but it would be awesome if we could.

It’d really be a nice tradeoff…

I don’t think your second link is working, but I’m doubtful anyways.

I doubt it, but it would be awesome if we could play as them!

I’ll remain hopeful they are but ready to find out their not. They’d work really easily as playable though. Can just be an alteration like the flood model was.

Don’t think we’ll get to see them…

1: Just fits in their role as normal soldiers
2: Seems like the normal forerunner color scheme

  • orange -> didact / warrior servants
  • blue -> librarian / lifeworker
  • red -> don’t know about this one, maybe builders?

3: Seems to be referring to some lore facts
4: Maybe in size, but the hitbox is different, they can teleport and just seem to be the gameplay equivalent to the elite class

I really don’t expect them to be playable, even the elites aren’t so why should they be playable? And now that mp is canon (stupid decision) it’s getting even more unlikely due to the fact that Prometheans aren’t trained side by side with Spartans.

But if they will be playable against all odds, let them come. Tank beats everything!

I wouldn’t call this a normal forerunner colourscheme.

I don’t see the hitbox problem, you could easily mistake them, especially the one on the right, for a spartan. I guess they have a slight slouch.

The hitboxes looks closer to Spartans than the Elites could ever be(which is why i’m so happy elites are never going to be playable again. Seriously, -Yoink- elites. Except the Arbiter. Arbiter is bae.)
We use thruster packs, they teleport, tomato, tomato. 343 originally intended for their teleportation ability to be usable for humans anyways, that’s why using thruster pack in Halo 4 took you into 3rd person.

I don’t think they’ll be playable either, but who ever said MP was canon? Simulations=/=canon situations, and the Prometheans… ARE spartans! dun-dun-duuuuuuun

Ehm I would do so it looks like the Halo 4 color schemes, just with the addition of the red one. So the differentiation between the forerunner groups could be the whole point. Seems to be more story related to me…

They have got this floating pieces, will hits on them count as body shots or not? If they would count it would be incredibly hard to script.
What about the gaps in their model? You could aim at their knees and shoot into nowhere because there are gaps all around their model.

And what about Spartan abilities? Okay I could see teleport as their thruster pack, but what about ground pound? Also what about assassinations? And they would be outside the competitive stuff only if I got 343’s idea of it right.

I’m not against them as playable options for MP, I would even totally love it now that elites are out.
But I just wouldn’t get my hopes up for it to happen, it seems way to unlikely.

It would be pretty cool, however I would still prefer elites. I can relate to a living thing more than I can relate to a robot, elites just have so much more personality.

While I do hope we get some kind of substitution, I doubt 343 will venture outside of the spartan realm.

I would find it quite interesting to play as the Forerunners I wonder what the UI would be like!

I would assume the spaces would remain part of the hitbox. The spartan abilities could easily remain the same.

h4 the armor plating was all silver/grey. Now we have silver grey ones shown in campaign demos, but this pic of ones with armor plating that is actually blue, white, and black. Why is a lifeworker soldier armor in blue if even the librarian herself wore grey?

I take it you’ve never worked on a game before? The collision mesh is almost never the same as the actual visible one. Too much excess geommetry. Your ‘hard to scipt’ is a common feature of the Unity game engine even.

They literally have floating pieces, they could even just have gravematic thrusters that accomplish thruster and ground pound. How would assassinations be hard? You didn’t need a knife before Reach, and I’m sure they can probably produce some sort of hardlight blade, It didnt stop Elites from suddenly have energy daggers in Reac.
You could make them literally identical in any practical game sense due to their human shape. The problem with elites is their general shape, size, and fondness of slouching.

Despite my defense of it, yeah, I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t make it in.

The different colours could be to distinguish rank.

They wont let elites be playable what hope do you have they allow this?

Could be possible but as others said doubt it.

Who knows maybe 343i is waiting till launch and let people discover it themselves that would surprise a lot of people.

Would be pretty awesome if you consider customization options. Very interesting.

What primarily got me thinking was when I saw that Solider sprinting up the ramp.

Has there ever been a recorded instance of AI sprinting?
