Anyone know a weak-spot to aim at to make killing soldiers a bit less of a chore? I know that there’s a certain damage threshold where their armor will start to crack and you can do critical damage on the glowing areas, but it takes so long just to break their armor open.
One thing I found was that the critical hit thing will appear on the reticule if you shoot a splinter-commander’s turret (rather than the commander himself), but I don’t think it really saves you more than one or two LR shots. Any other weak-points you guys’ve found?
Shoot them for a bit until their armor pops off. You’ll know it happened when there’s an orange glow on their face, stomach and back, and they’ll do an animation along with it. Take out a precision weapon (pistol, battle rifle, carbine, etc.) and shoot them in the head. Instant death.

I already knew about that one, but the armor takes so long to break on Legendary. Like the Halo 2 bullet-spongy brutes.

Then assassinate them. Either you can go up behind them and melee them to initiate the assassination animation or you can just punch them in the back, both are an instant kill. Otherwise, I know nothing of any weak spots that show up before the armor is gone.
AAFF.
Always Aim For Face
Splattering them is the fastest option.
Run them over or back smack fastest ways. I have had them just flip my vehicle when I try to splatter them a few times though.
My rule for Promethians is if it glows shoot it. Often is their weak spot.
Shoulders, i believe
Be thankful they don’t have shields. It means they can’t recover from damage and you will take them down surely enough.
I think they are 5 shot with a light rifle in legendary campaign, if you hit their neck or shoulders 4 times and the head once. When I did campaign I only used light rifles for them, as human and covenant weapons couldnt do enough damage, and I’d get killed with close combat weapons
Anywhere that is glowing orange-yellow. Depending on the variant you can just shoot them in the face
Both the regular soldier and the splinter turret/enforcer soldier have weak spots even before breaking their armor.
Regular soldier: Chest. Yes chest, I always thought it was the head at first but no, it’s the chest.
Enforcer: Face, a little more logical than the regular one’s.
Their armor breaks quite much faster from these spots compared to non weak point hits.

I feel like they would be fairer if you took the amount of health they have before their armor breaks, let’s say that number is 30hp, and instead of that give them 10hp of shields and 10hp of armor. But that’s just me rambling.
The shoulder pads are their weak spots prior to exposing their glowing undersides. I guess we all know why shoulder pads were left behind in the '80s, because “power clothing” is simply ridiculous.
Not so much a weak spot as it is a weakness- the Boltshot and Suppressor are excellent for destroying their armor, leaving them open for a headshot. Combine that with the fact that Suppressors end up almost everywhere because of Crawler Alphas and standard Soldiers, and you can deal with them with relative ease.
There is no effective way to deal with soldiers other than to spam them with a lot of Forerunner weapon shots at there face. There is a simple rule in Halo 5, the enemies are using the weapon that is most effective against them.
Forerunner weapons are most effective against forerunners and covenant weapons are most effective against covenant.

Hehehehehe that gives me a good reason to bring out this

That is exactly what the enemies make in halo 5. I don’t know why the covenant engineers and forerunner engineers come up with the idea to make the weapons that are most effective against themself. Maybe, it’s because there is nothing else they can test there weapons.
Suppressor/boltshot because the projectiles automatically target the weak points. Then headshot with whatever precision weapon you have. You will save time and ammo this way. But if you insist on solely precision weapons, the chest is their weakspot so shoot that first.
