Promethean sniper rifle

Anyone else feel that the Promethean sniper is specifically designed for the noobish players? I mean c’mon, one shot kill anywhere. What in the hell has this game come to. If you were to have told me this before the game came out I would have thought you were joking.

I decided to hop in a big team earlier because the same 4 TS maps were getting old and I ended up getting the Promethean sniper as an ordinance drop. It felt so cheap using it. 4 shots, 4 kills, without any effort whatsoever.

From what I have seen, it is somewhat rare to get. I agree that a 1 shot kill (regardless of hit placement)sniper is a little noobish, but at least it isnt super common.

Also, it is kind of fun in that, “I OWN YOU” sort of way lol.

No you’re not the only one, the binary is OP as -Yoink-, the beam rifle is under powered as I’ve hit people in the head with it and they have walked away unscathed. So the Binary is for noobs the beam rifle is worthless and the sniper rifle is still the same old trusty gun that it has been.

I know what you mean! BTB/Regicide is about all I play, but the very few times I ever get sniped, it’s also by that rifle. It is VERY noob friendly but the ‘‘snapshot’’ ability is terrible. It has the biggest reticle of all I think? Still, easy to spot someone with it because of the huge laser sight thing it has, but it is obviously OP.

Yeah but I mean even if you do spot my huge laser coming out of the gun half way across the map what are you going to do? I’m a pretty decent sniper and considering your shots won’t even take me out of zoom, hypothetically your screwed 100% of the time lol.

I just don’t think a company should ever cater to the noobs because they’re the ones who are gone to play blacks ops 2 when it comes out or some other upcoming title. True halo fans, which have been betrayed imo, are the ones left behind with a game made for the majority. It’s not fair really.

Uh, you clearly don’t know what you’re talking about, or how it’s ballanced, or that they told us before it came out, or even what the promethean sniper is called.

Seriously bro, get out.

it is powerful, but it has its drawbacks, low ammo/clip count. long reload huge unscoped reticle, laser pointing where you are when scoped in and its super rare.
the advantages are that its a one shot kill, and thats pretty much it.
a good player would be able to bypass the laser pointer mostly because they wouldnt spend a lot of time scoped in.
side note:
ive only gotten maybe two or three in my entire playtime and one of them landed on top of a mantis and i couldnt get it. that was a hoot.

You butt hurt because I stripped you of your pride? Noobs like you think your good with sniper rifles now?

“-Yoink- bro”, yeah your original.

It’s beyond cheap, I hate using it. However, if it pops up, I’ll end up using it because, well, it’s the best choice. It’s 343i’s take on Unreal Tournaments Instagib Rifle (except the Instagib Rifle is so much better and more balanced anyways since EVERYBODY had it.)

Personally, I don’t like it, and it’s a joke of a “sniper rifle” that takes hardly any skill at all. I honestly feel it’s as cheap, if not more, than the MW2 noobtubes.

The thing is, it extremely rare to get. The first time I’ve ever used it in multiplayer was at SR-25. I admit, it did feel kind of cheap, but hey, it’s fun to use, and it’s a Forerunner power weapon so it seems ok to me. Just because it’s powerful, doesn’t mean 343 is catering to the “noobs”.

It also is very balanced in my opinion. The drawbacks outnumber the perks of using it.
Drawbacks:

  1. Extremely defined laser pointers when scoped in.

  2. Gargantuan reticle when zoomed out.

  3. 2 shots per clip

  4. Generally low amount of ammo.

Perks:

  1. One shot kill from anywhere on the body

Like someone said earlier in the thread, it’s very uncommon to get a hold of it anyways. The majority of my play time is in BTB and I hardly ever get it in my drops. Plus there isn’t that much ammo and most kids suck at sniping anyways, so it’s not that big of a deal.

The gun is awesome though, and it’s like an early Christmas gift when I actually pick it up.

It’s very simple. Anyone who is camo sniping has a missive advantage. They can just see that lazer, and boom. Besides, 99% of people could’nt even snipe in reach. So what are the odds if you start jumping around and bagging?
