Promethean Motives?

I don’t think it has been explained anywhere. I was wondering what exactly are the Prometheans doing now? The Didact is dead. Who’s even leading them? What in the hell do they want?

They want Recon.

Seriously though good question, at first I thought the Jul might be controlling them but of course we saw covies fighting Prometheans in the Osiris trailer so that seems unlikely.

They have probably been summoned by the Guardians for some nefarious purpose

No, the Didact isn’t dead, just composed. It would be dope if he came back as some sort of mega Promethean.

Why else does anyone do anything

Well, it seems like Jul’ loses control of them in Halo 5. Frankie confirmed that they were never really his to command, and simply allied themselves because they had the same goals. Which made sense. The Didact teamed up with Jul’ in H4, and after his disappearance, the Promtheans defaulted to helping Jul’. But now that the Warden Eternal is around, I assume the Prometheans would pick a high ranking Construct/Composed Forerunner over Jul’. But helping Warden and Blue Team is going in the opposite direction of their original motives given to them by the Didact. So perhaps its less about them having similar motives to Warden, but more about Jul’ doing something to piss off the Promtheans and make them go against him.

It seems like the Warden is going to be helping Chief along his journey, which means the Promtheans likely won’t be fighting Blue Team, at least for part of the story. But what if the Didact returns? Will that turn the tides? I assume the Promtheans would go back to him.

Chief stole their cheetos while on Requim, they want them back. Or maybe Chief should’ve died from that nuke in Halo 4, and so the Guardians and their Promethean minions are trying to catch up to him to finish the job, so that this → “Master Chief was killed by the guardians” can finally happen and order can be restored to the universe…

Mendicate Bias

The Armigers (Promethean soldiers) in Hunters in the Dark were controlled by the Ark’s monitor to protect the Forerunner installation. They’re motives would probably be the same in Halo 5, protecting the Guardian and Warden Eternal since they originate from the Forerunners.

What if, since the Didact effectively exists as a disembodied consciousness at this point, he becomes the collective consciousness of the Prometheans. So every time you fight a Promethean, your are essentially fighting the Didact.

Well, we know that the memories of the Knights all end up in some collective place after they are composed (Halo Escalation), but actually having them be part of some hive mind is an interesting thought. Part of me doubts it though. Remember that 343 Guilty Spark is supposed to be a composed being as well. Which potentially breaks the theory. I can’t picture him being a part of some hive mind with all the other composed beings. Unless you mean to say that only the knights are part of a collective mind, and that not just any composed being is part of it. At the end of the day, the Promtheans are AI. And hivemind consciousness or not, them being part of some interconnected network would seems likely.

And the Prometheans would probably abandon Warden or Jul’, or anyone for that matter to aid the Didact. So I suppose him potentially being part of a hivemind to control them would potentially be a little pointless.
