What’s with the Promethean Vision name? It seems extremely long and unnecessary. It’s obvious that Chief has this ability before he even knows what the Prometheans are. Wouldn’t it make more sense to call it VISR (like Cortana did in the demo)?
VISR is much shorter, easier to remember, better for callouts, and makes more sense considering it extremely resembles the feature present in ODST.
Shes says Switching Visor mode, the thing chief is wearing so he can look out of is called a visor.
Chief Probably gets the vision when he lands, we’ll just have to wait and see.

She said VISR. It was a feature introduced in Halo 3: ODST. It was prototyped by special Spartan III teams before being given as standard equipment to ODSTs.
I’m saying it’s ridiculous to call it Promethean Vision because the Chief already has it before he even knew the Prometheans existed.

Sigh A VISOR!!! (also spelled vizor) is a surface that protects the eyes, such as shading them from the sun or other bright light or protecting them from objects. The Halo 3 ODST VISR database has nothing to do with the visor of a helmet, VISR is a database that holds all information and data uplinks required, nothing to do with a VISOR, a VISOR is a physical object where as VISR is a database

The Halo 3 ODST VISR database has nothing to do with the visor of a helmet, VISR is a database that holds all information and data uplinks required, nothing to do with a VISOR, a VISOR is a physical object where as VISR is a database
Your saying Promethean Vision could be apart of VISR DATABASE, you could be correct, but seeing as chief has a VISOR protecting him, it would make more sense if Cortana said switching VISOR mode, as he does actually have a visor, and never had access to the VISR database.

The is no such thing as a “visor mode.” VISR is a feature that outlines, enemies, weapons, and provides other useful information, exactly like this Promethean Vision. Neither one of them has anything to do with physical protection, nor was anything even mentioned about that until you brought it up.
She switches on VISR mode. I’m saying it should simply be called this instead of Promethean Vision considering the technology was developed and in use before these Prometheans were ever discovered.
I think its called promethean vision because it uses forerunner tech “Coupled with VISR 4.0 Tech suite”. They probably name it promethean vision cause the multiplayer portion of halo takes place 6 months after the campaign and they probably named it that after. and thats why cortana doesnt call it promethean vision.

Finally a decent answer instead of people randomly typing whatever comes to their minds. Thank you, I suppose there is cause for calling it that then.
It really doesn’t make sense to me. I’m sure the technology is already attainable by the UNSC, and it looks too archaic to be forerunner. They’d might as well call it VISR.
Whats weird is according to the information 343 posted about Chief’s armor being Generation 1 and the Spartan IV’s being Generation 2 (It allows on the fly armor enhancements), Chief couldn’t possibly use it unless he got a new suit from the Infinity.

cortana was with chief floating around in space for 4 years. its very likely she made software modifications to his armour based on the vast amount of forerunner information she had collected.
