Anyone notice how their was projectile for CE & 3. While it was hitscan for 2 & Reach. Kinda like they were switching for each halo game to keep it fresh. (not including ODST because it didn’t have multiplayer) But we’ve only gotten hitscan for 4 & 5. Don’t get me wromg Hitscan is great, but Halo needs a breath of fresh air. It’ll also widen the skill gap, which will do wonders for competitive Halo seeing how a projectile based is much more difficult to master. Ex. Halo 3.

It’s also broken. Imperfect netcode (there can never be a 100% perfect netcode, with no flaws ever) makes it broken. Projectile is the worst.
What is Hitscan? Also what is Projectile?

Hitscan is when the bullet you fire instantly hits the target. With projectile, the bullet has a certain speed. Its present in Halo 5 on weapons such as the storm rifle and suppressor.

Projectile is one of things that made Halo 3 amazing. Took a vast amount of skill to conquer it. Which is why competitive Halo was much more appreciated back in the day. It also led to more nail-biting matches!

Hitscan: Think of laser pointer, you point it at something and it instantly hits. Games like Call of duty and Halo 4 use this mechanic.
Projectile: Their is a travel time for each bullet. Thus, you have to “lead” your shots in order to connect. Games like Battlefield or Halo 3 have this feature.

I think we have enough people complaining that halo 5 is too competitive as is. Imagine if they introduced projectile.
Halo 3 had a terrible BR because of it. It was good in Halo CE though.

It’d make bigger maps actually viable, Halo 4 BTB and even Reach were ruined with cross mapping stationary players with BR and DMR.
Projectile physics ruined H3, so I’ll be just happy never seeing it again.
I don’t know … as iffy as these servers are, hitscan may be more reliable … even if projectile is more realistic.

Disagree, SWAT required skill for example. SWAT in Halo 5 is a joke, stupid map layouts, camping, and you literally just aim and kill. Even out-with swat back in the day you could just aim straight and kill, which was why it was better imo
In a LAN match or theoretical world where everyone has perfect internet, then projectile would widen the skill gap but in the real world they made the game more about luck & internet connection.
Hitscan is just more consistent and therefore better.
Projectile is crucial to proper vehicle play.

Yes because nobody camped in Reach and Halo 4 playing swat.
Projectile certainly raises the skill gap, it also makes vehicle play more viable. Heck, BTB thrived in halo 3 and I think projectile played a big part.
I want it back so badly but bad net code is bad.
Railgun and Gauss Cannon used to be projectile in H5 but they changed it. I enjoyed it when it was projectile.
Not if I get the Halo 3 BRng again.
Scattershot, needler, suppressor, boltshot and rockets are still projectile, correct? With region lock off, turning all weapons to “projectile” targeting would be ridiculous.
If I’m versing US players, my ping’s near 200. There’d be no chance of even being a threat to them if the server puts them and my projectiles in different locations
Hitbox calculations are more forgiving and fair when players on the same server have wildly varying ping times.
