It seems like 343i have been asking themselves “How can we change Halo gameplay?” rather than “How can we improve Halo gameplay?”
Sprint is a bad change. This has been documented and discussed to death, so I won’t bring it up (excuse my paralipsis.)
I think the best way to qualify whether a change is “good” or not is by asking these questions: “Does it make the game more fun?” “How does it affect the skill gap?” “How does it affect accessibility?” “How will it affect sales?” “How does it changed the established Halo formula?” etc.
Here’s some commonsense, non-controversial changes:
Replace Forge with Anvil (full terrain/tag editor)- Improve customization- Improve theater/spectator functionalityAnd so on.

How about testing the next games changes, in the last games mm playlist. If it won’t play well on lockout it shouldn’t be in the game. But it can be toggled as an ability for splattering well before mass production.
now I ask you and anyone who reads this how would you improve the halo gameplay. None of the changes you mentioned have anything to do with gameplay. Bungie knew this they were stuck in a comfort zone/ having perfect the VERY simple holy trinity gameplay that is halo. Part of that is the reason for ugh halo reach and also they were using their beloved fanbase to test features for their new game but that’s another story
Changes from 2 to 3 gameplay wise aside from projectile to hits can lets see. The ability to rip out a turret? Alright meh small change, not worth using. Equipments were the “big” changes right? Lol they were glorified grenades tbh. You could have easily added a “special grenade slot” and move on. They prob dId not wanna seem like they were coping COD so they created equipments. The bubble shield looked and was used like a grenade in the trailer so I’m not that far off. What else did we do different in halo sadly I’m drawing a blank right now.
changes I would want to see are things like useful weapons. The halo 3 sandbox was great with -Yoink!- weaponss like the spiker, but if I even thought about using any guns beside the BR Id have to accept dying and dying a lot. I wanted to love the carbine but I hated losing more than I enjoyed the fun in shooting it.
343 is giving me that for the second time halo is not a one gun game and now the autos are fun and useful. I dint agree with the headshots but hey those are gone.
i like the new mobility but it does worry me. Lots of things were addressed with the blog so I’ll have to wait and see.
we all want to talk about changes to the gameplay but never come up with any?
Let me play as a Grunt and drive a Scarab in custom games.- Spawn specific and customisable AI in firefight and in custom games for gametypes and machinimas.- Halo 3’s t-bagging physics. Game sold.
I think Epic games did a fairly good job with the GOW series. Little changes to each game but not changing the root of multiplayer through the years. Halo has changed drastically. They have pretty much made Halo into a totally different game. I never felt that way with Gears.

Because original gameplay was friggin’ sweet, and we’ve seen over…
…and over…
…that changing it nearly never works. Guns? Yeah we can work on that. Map design? Sure. That could improve. Equipment? Lol. That was a lapse in creativity.
But we don’t want the base gameplay of 4v4 arena Slayer to get -Yoinked- up. That’s the best part. All we can do is add other really great parts.

Until the new studio took over with Gears of War Judgement which most hated. Company’s should notice that when they try to change the games too much then they actually annoy a lot of the fans which is why most people hate Halo 4,5. Change is only good if it makes sense like adding more features to Forge is a good thing while adding things like ADS is a bad thing. Halo needs to innovate in ways that improve the experience and not turn the game into what feels so far like an arena only style game which ruins it for me since Halo was never about playing only 1 game style and because of this I’m worried about the released game when it comes out because so far they haven’t impressed many people, well there making little progress to improve on the mistakes they have made.
Sorry but not all of us believe Sprint is a bad change. Recently released data supports this.
You can talk about how there are so many “documented facts” about why Sprint is bad and not fun, but in the end it’s just you trying to back up your opinion with more opinions.
I love the feel of Halo 5. I think it is the most fun Halo to date. The fast paced movement combined with the well balanced weapons is an exciting twist while still keeping that classic Halo feel. We’re all still jumping around, juking, bouncing grenades and working as a team to gain advantage, just like it’s always been.
And because it will be mentioned, I hate CoD and I’ve been playing since Halo 1 released. I’m a guy raised on Halo and Halo is the only game I’ve ever really played on the consoles.

It was sweet no matter good halo 5 turns out I’ll always need some MCC time. But halo 3 at its funnest was painfully simple and boring at the same time. I had fun because I love the BR I love 4 shoting ppl. Droppig shields with grenades and cleaning up a squad. But Id Id be lying if I dint say sometimes I want more. Like picking up the spiker and actualy having fun with it and not being out played for not using a precision weapon. 343 is giving me that., and they are changing mobility and not the gunplay
For the most part, I fell like there are 2 types of Halo players.
The 2001-2007 (CE, 2, 3) Halo players
and the Reach-Halo 4 players.
I think MOST of the players who started with reach couldn’t care less about what is done to Halo, they don’t know better.
But the longtime fans are getting tired of Microsoft/343 trying to fix something that wasn’t broken in the first place. H2 and H3 were by far, the most played games on XBL. All this change started with Reach, but from what I can tell Bungie was basically forced to change the game…But that doesn’t mean 343 couldn’t bring Halo back to glory? Maybe they are forced to make changes too…who knows?
I honestly don’t know what is so hard about keeping Halo to it’s roots? Are 343i just puppets who don’t make the big decisions? Are there people up higher telling them what to do? I am being serious here…It’s crazy to me how they can’t make Halo what it once was?

I agree with this sentiment entirely.
However.
You shortchange the casuals who started late. I started with Halo 4. I am all for removing Sprint and reclaiming the mantle Halo once achieved. So yeah, you have more than CE, 2 and 3 guys who agree.
