Alright I know this may be a minor thing, but I’ve always wondered this is supposed to be the UNSC most valued and powerful Starship. Why does it have so little defense if not any protecting it besides it’s own port defenses and mac cannons. Granted I am aware it has shields but it has been boarded twice now. In these videos you clearly see Marathon Class Cruisers escorting the Infinity. It even has Charon Class Frigates docked for defense meaning this ship is supposed to be a pretty big deal! Even the Covenant has escorts with it’s Battlecruisers and Assault Carriers.
To cut things short we have videos to prove the UNSC Infinity has escorts, but during situations like Spartan Ops Invasion and the Campaign they just seem to disappear. Meaning either the Infinity is so strong maybe they thought it would be overpowered to have that with Cruisers escorting it against the Covenant Remnant or it was an oversight. Either way it does put up a good fight against all those Covenant ships. Here are also videos of it.
I agree, but the times it has been boarded by Prometheans, it has been because they used slipspace and I am sure the covenant hopped through the portals too
The thing I can understand the Prometheans using slipspace teleportation. However, you obviously see Banshee’s and Phantoms, along with a Battlecruiser outside the Infinity granted it’s just one. But the Covenant Remnant seems to have a lot of these cruisers after awhile, you would think the Infinity would get some reinforcements just in case. I mean it’s been boarded twice. Another thing is you see Covenant come in using Pelicans.
The Prometheans are Forerunners essentially or creations of them. The Forerunners used slipspace like it was no big deal. They mastered it and if you read the books it gives more insight to them.
As for the Storm (covenant) they come from a different place than the aliens we fought in the other Halo games. They have different tech and im sure plenty of ships. The pelicans were probably stolen like the tanks were on that one mission in Spartan Ops. After the war ended and the covenant fell apart, a military black market came up and so weapons/vehicles were bought and sold across species on certain planets.
Well I know that much. But as I was saying it makes sense for the Prometheans to board the ship even Lasky says in the Episode 8 trailer “Move as far away from the planet so that they can’t board the ship”. But the Covenant on the other hand seemed to be using Dropships to board the Infinity, which is why you had to close the hangers to prevent more from invading.
However, this doesn’t change the fact the Infinity would have probably been way better off with a bit of more escorts protecting it at least minimizing the threat. I mean imagine if those Havok nukes went off. All those years of building the ship would have been wasted.
As for the Infinity, it has plenty of defense mechanisms. The only thing is that since the Covenant were very close to the Infinity, it would’ve been suicidal to use there bigger weapons.
in spartan ops they did mention that ship communication was mostly down, and if its such a big ship, obviously people cant all communicate, with covenant and prometheans teleporting into the ship, nuking and disalbing the ship from the inside, not just an exterior attack, very canculated, its like fighting lost cut of in a city in size comparison i bet
I understand what you all mean, but from what I saw, there were explosions happening inside and outside of the Infinity especially in Episode 7 mission 2. Which is why I asked everybody what happened to the escorts it originally had, I know the attack was quick so maybe the Frigates couldn’t have been launched. At the same time I see with an escort it probably could have been easier to reinforce the Infinity instead look how long it took Crimson to reach the Infinity. It was a mess.
