Problems with radar go beyond nerf of the range.

There are so many problems that I have found with the radar which is supposed to be a unique tool in the game. Nerfing its range of detection is something I don’t really have a problem with as it makes players seek out the enemy instead of waiting for them to come out. CQB is more optional now so you won’t be gunned down by br when you are trying to rush them. And snipe camping is easier to counter but a good player should always check their radar.

  1. Telling when an enemy is above or below. Now of course when the dot gets smaller it usually means they are not in the same level of area with you. However in many cases there map designs with 3 levels… How are you to know where the enemy exactly is if they are walking around and about? There is no indication if they are above or below you except that the blip gets smaller. I don’t see why they got rid of that… Maybe its to discourage crouching and camping while at the same time encourage it? Sure but eventually they will find you.

  2. When a vehicle is boarded and blinking red and white… Okay honestly I can never tell if its enemy vehicle getting boarded by a teammate or the other way around. It is absolutely confusing. I sometimes I assume its an ally boarding and the boarder is on the front side and I am seeing it from the rear, but when it blows up guess who emerges and enemy… I have noticed that this is discouraging or in a way confusing solo players to make any cooperative play with teammates as hardly anyone uses their microphone. The only time I do find out is if they are screaming in fear that someone had boarded them which is quite annoying. I would expect teammates to be calm and assertive. My suggestion for this is, make the center white and the outer border of the diamond blinking red if its an ally getting boarded and the opposite for an enemy. Cause of course the plan of a team is to board a tank which means they communicated that or know what to do, but the opposing team has to at least be able to react quickly enough to counter it.

  3. when a player is sprinting they sometimes go off radar? I have never understood why. My assumption is when a player sprint slide and sprint again it probably detects them as crouching?

I would think its registering as a crouch makes sense but the level indicator I don’t remember halo3 having it and I liked that a lot.

I think Halo reach had it or Halo 4… Registering crouch is not a good idea as then there would be no point in crouching. You might as well make it DOOM right? LOL I’m not too fixated on it but it does make it hard sometime to find the enemy if there are 3 levels in a certain part of the map.
