Problems loading Waypoint?

Hi,

First of all I’m incredibly impressed with Reach, I think it is easily the best Halo title to date. Bungie has really outdone themselves this time.

I have a problem, however. Since yesterday I’ve been unable to load up Waypoint, every time I start the program it sits there “retrieving data” for a long moment…then I get a message that reads,

Error
The Halo Waypoint server is not available at this time. Please try again later.

Is the Waypoint server really down, or is the problem on my end? I’m not having any problems with Xbox Live in general as far as I can tell. Does anyone have any suggestions for me?

Hi Cylor, are you still getting this error this evening?

I still am. Have been for the last three days I think.

I am also still having this problem, it has been at least 4 days since I have been able to log into Waypoint. If someone could let me know why, that would be fantastic.

I’m still getting the problem as well and have even tried deleting and redownloading Waypoint.

I’m also having an issue, very similar to this, in fact.

But in my case, after a few minutes of “Retrieving Data…” a page does finally load… But it’s the last page I was viewing the night I got an error message saying the server was down. Well, I can get to that page just fine, but the problem is I can’t get anywhere except the 5 video pages that are displayed there, and the advertisement at the bottom of the page doesn’t do anything for me either.

I also tried to delete and re-download Waypoint, but yeah… no change.

So I’m stuck on that page forever, it would seem. Awaiting help in whatever form it may take.

i am having this problem as well, and after i hit OK on the ‘server down’ message, my xbox freezes.

Ok, for people still experiencing this problem, here are a few questions for you:

What region and language do you have selected for your settings?

Are you definitely connected to LIVE, not just signed in but actually connected?

What type of internet connection (dsl, cable, dial up etc) do you currently have?

And can you watch something from, say, Inside Xbox on the dash or view the Spotlight channel?

Havnt been able to connect for well over a week now.

yup definately connected, can veiw spotlight channel and look through marketplace

dsl i think (get roughly 7mb/s down, 0.7 up)

Region and Language: Canada. English.

Connected to XBL: Certainly.

Connection type: DSL (wi-fi, if it makes a difference).

Inside Xbox/Spotlight: Yes. And yes.

I really appreciate your efforts. Sorry it took so long for me to reply. See, I had a choice between Xbox and a PC.

ok i only have Live Gold membership for a month and and its runnoing out i have not been able to connect to Reach Matchmaking and to Halo Waypiont (i think the problems are connected) for a week and the only reason i have Gold is for Reach Matchmaking.
It was fine until a week ago. Now it says the Reach Matchmaking and Halo Waypiont is Unavialable.

I live in Chaing Rai, Thailand and my friend who also lives here is one of the 4 people who has Reach in this town. Well, his Waypiont and Matchmaking works. so its not a matter of location. my language is English.

I can still connect to Live but just not Halo.

my internet is ADSL. wifi-built in

i can wtach something like the Inside Xbox and Spotlight channel. those both still work.

i have not had this problem before until a week ago.

I would recommend contacting Xbox support. I usually communicate with them via Twitter (http://twitter.com/#!/XboxSupport), but they are available by phone and on their website (http://support.xbox.com/en-us/Pages/default.aspx) as well.

a good solution for the problem i’ve been having (which is some sort of verb server error…) is to go to xbox.com and load the page, making sure you are signed in with your gamertag, then coming back here, where it should load the forums!

I assume this may be because the forums have a tough time logging in the live account if there isn’t already cached information (or if the login has timed out after an extended period of time, it cannot log you in directly from the waypoint forums). Then again, I haven’t touched a line of code in 2 years (but hey, I got an 80 in the class!)
