Problems/Good things about the beta.

Making this thread simply to help with the process of the beta.

Pros;

  • The callouts - I find these extremely useful, especially for Truth which I wouldn’t be able to find anyone if it weren’t for the callouts.- Lack of aim assist - Although I do know that aim assist is still there, I probably wouldn’t be able to tell if it was removed entirely. The skill needed now to guide your shots for the head really will determine who can play the game and who can master it.- The inclusion of black as a colour - Always been upset ever since the games after CE took away a proper black colour for customisation, although it doesn’t mean much I just like black being black instead of a steel.- Thusters and clamping - Incredibly useful especially on Empire, and I imagine any humanity based map will be at a great advantage with these abilities for everyone. I noticed at each base on Truth with the slight deviation to the map structure to enhance the movement of the map.- Weapon sounds - I kinda found the weapons didn’t sound right in Halo 4, especially the Battle Rifle, but here you’ve truly made each weapon feel important and powerful in their own rights, heck even the Pistol sounds mean.Cons;
  • Inability to walk over/pick up weapons - Whenever in the past Halos I wanted to quickly grab a weapon, I’d have to go in short proximity and you’d be able to pick it up smoothly, here now you can’t even walk over a weapon and hope to pick it up, you have to stop dead and hope that X is working to pick up a simple gun.- Fixing Ranks - While I haven’t been performing greatly like I used to, others I know get deranked a bit when they’ve ontop of the game yet their side loses. Some sort of fix should be added to benefit those who drag the team but can’t win due to their team letting them down. Even if it’s a 0 exp drop/gain.- Too many medals - Back in Halo 3 there weren’t enough, Reach had the right amount and 4 went over the top. Now I’m getting medals practically walking around looking at the scenery. The medals should congratulate you, but not for every minor thing you do.- Flinching - It’s bad enough when you’re up close with a Pistol trying to shoot anyone, but when you’ve got hardly any ammo for the DMR and you’re being forced away from the target cause of flinching you practically lose every time, unless it’s a 1v1 which it goes down to whoever got there first.- The spawning - It’s either the spawning is kinda broken for me or it’s intentional. The sudden kill cam which isn’t an actual kill cam since it’s showing the enemy after they killed you makes no sense, then a black screen, then a spectator view of your teammates then another black screen then finally being dropped into the game. All of that without any timer counting down to a respawn just doesn’t make sense to me and doesn’t flow well in the game.- Frag Grenades - I don’t have any problem with the Plasma’s since they work so well and aren’t too powerful, but one Frag and you’re practically gone, it’s horrible on Truth being corned with all of the grenades the map has with absolutely no chance to fight back. In one game that I remember, 4 deaths in a row I was pelted by grenades while I lasted about 2 seconds in each life.So while I do have complaints there, I think this game is looking fantastic, and is fun as I remember Halo 3 being. Which is my favourite MP along with Reach to date.

Its biggest pro is that is fun. Unlike Halo 4 I find this enjoyable to play.

Addressing the cons:

I agree with nearly everything you’ve said here. My biggest issue, as you said in your cons list, was the leveling system and actually doing well on the losing team. I have been stuck with many teamates that do not know what they are doing, or are inactive when playing. This hurts the team i am on greatly as we are virtually playing 3v4 or 2v4 when someone quits and there is an inactive.

I have not had nay issues with picking up weapons as you have said, however I will try to pay more attention to that and see if it gives me any issues.

I don’t really have a preference on the medals, though it seems they did take the “more the merrier” approach to things.

Addressing the Pro’s:

I really agree with you on everything stated… not much need to address. The game is fun… it’s the most fun I’ve had in a Halo game in a long time. Thanks to all those former pro’s for assisting the MP devs. I can definitely see where your input was used and implemented.

Side notes:
If I think of anything else or notice anything as the time goes on, then I’ll make a topic noting my thoughts.

I agree with your last 2 bullet points regarding the odd spawning sequence and overpowered frags. But the rest of it, I kinda like. The new medals are good medals. Ok maybe not the hat-trick one. The biggest problem I’m having at the moment is the effect of beatdown on shield. Does it only take the shield down or can there be some damage pass through if they’re already weak?
