Okay, I know the SIVs are supposed to be faster, more agile and whatnot. But why are all their stomachs and crotches so exposed. Mark VI is the only one that I’ve seen with ample armor in that area. It’s not the end of the world but I wanna know, why?
The enemy shoots at the chest mainly but the chest and stomach are really close.
Thoughts?
Because 343 has a bad designer.
It makes no sense to have so much exposure to vital organs. Especially the nether region.
rip future spartan offspring
The underlying areas are not exposed… they just don’t have armor plating. The exoskeleton of the MJOLNIR armor will stop most bullets and shrapnel while the more vital and commonly fired at areas of the armor have heavy plating. If they plated EVERY part of the suit you wouldn’t be able to move correctly. These topics are covered in the books in detail. I understand not everyone reads them though.
Yeah I wish they would fix those areas on the armor. That why i’ll just be rocking the mark VI gen 1.
Improvements to the [GEN2] MJOLNIR allowed them to cut back on the amount of plating dramatically, maximising mobility at the same time.
> Titanium nanocomposite bodysuit: Sandwiched between the external armor and the internal padding is a thick armored bodysuit. The bodysuit is made of a nonrigid titanium-based material, making it very strong and yet very flexible. The suit has numerous functions, small but vital to the safety and survival of the wearer. It also serves as another layer of protection against ballistics attacks and is coated with a heat-resistant material to disperse heat from plasma weapons. Many components of the GEN2’s titanium bodysuit are conspicuously fashioned after the shape of human musculature; this was less prominent in previous Mjolnir generations. Some models have portions of the bodysuit share their color with the external armor plating, though completely black bodysuits are still common.
You can find more information on Halopedia; compared to MJOLNIR Mark IV through VI, [GEN2] is far more effective.

Nether and lower body are protected by the bodysuit, although there is moderate armour plating on top of the nethers and central stomach. It’s the strip bit with the dots.

Somehow the Spartans were able to move before.
Even gladiators who barely had armor at least had gut armor.
Cause if you hit the gut everything falls out.
I don’t know about y’all, but I don’t want to get shot in my genitals after my shields go down.
Mark VI for sure.

that’s pretty awesome that that kind of info exists to explain such a small detail that I didn’t even notice until I read the OP. gotta love the Halo universe!
The armor is alright they should give the halo reach feature back that armor was really awsome.
The armor’s shields protect the whole body. Once that goes down it’s pretty much only a couple shots before you go down. No matter what armor they wear theoretically the enemies could aim for the weak spots if they were as weak as you make them seem. I think the bodysuit explanation from someone else’s post made it clear that those spots are not as unprotected as you make them seem. I think 343 is familiar with the lore and are making customizable armors for visual reasons, because many players don’t care about the non-gameplay impacting lack of armor
Also: Many Spartans wear different armors. They have different functional benefits. So I’m pretty sure some of the Spartans would choose more mobility anyways, just like some would choose maximum protection. 343 is just giving people options.
New armor is cool, and it’s just a game, so…
The undersuit on Gen2 armour offers significantly more protection than it did in Gen1 apparently. It’s not just the hard, played areas that are armoured.
SIV Armour is a bit light and flimsy and even unconvincing but I suppose they are not as able to lug around the heavy plating of the SII’s armour.

Good thoughts, but my question is, were do S-IV’s store ammo?

Same place S-II’s store ammo.

LOL!
Probably for flexibility and movement freedom. The actual armor skin is bullet resistant, plus with their shields it would take a bit to get through it with conventional rounds.
