I changed my GamerTag (this one) yesterday, just for the heck of it. Since then, I’ve not only had issues with my old GamerTag showing up in the party-chat dashboard menus on my XBOX whenever I try to send a party-chat invite to someone, but have also had issues with even being ABLE to party chat with online friends (in and out of Halo games), as well as join a friend in a game/have them join me.
I contacted XBOX Live Support about the issue, and the recommended (among a couple of other possible solutions, which I can’t try at the moment due to being at work) that I post my issue here.
The reason I’m doing so is because on these very forums, I occasionally will see my old GamerTag show up on my posts. It seems like half the posts I make, I show up as “Skadoofus” (which is the new name I changed my GamerTag to yesterday), and the other half, it shows up as “MDK Knightshade”, which is my older GamerTag prior to changing it yesterday.
Any ideas on how to resolve this? I have already deleted an re-downloaded my profile on my XBOX, to no avail. It has not resolved the issue of “MDK Knightshade” appearing on the party-chat menu of the XBOX’s dashboard when I send a party-chat invite, nor did it fix the inability to successfully connect to a friend for party-chat or game invite. It obviously had no effect on the forums, either.
XBOX LIve Support recommended I clear my XBOX’s system cache, which I will do upon arriving home later this afternoon, but I’m not entirely convinced that will help the issues I am having here on the forums.
Ideas?
