So i finally decided to go to best buy to get my limited edition pre order of Halo 4. So i get there and ask where i can and he says that they are not pre ordering that and you will have to come at midnight launch or pre order online. i am just wondering if that is just with the store or if it is something else. I will definitely go to midnight launch anyways but i would have atleast like to have my copy available. I dont want to order online because i did it with reach and it took an extra 5 days to ship when i thought it would come day one!
Why don’t you pre-order somewhere else? Obviously they’re not doing pre-orders in that particular store.
Oh and yay, 3000 posts.

Congrats! That’s a lot of posts.
Best buy does midnight releases?

That’s more posts than me…
Congrats though!
But yeah, try talking to a manager or something, since I find it hard to believe that the store wouldn’t be accepting pre-orders.
For the pre-order bonus I’m guessing? That’s odd for an employee to say that, but just go to the midnight release, and get there at a decent time.
The reason he may have said that was because that store may have already sold out of it’s number of Limited Editions- a store will only get so many. You might be better served going to a different Best Buy.
Only reason i am buying from best buy is because i have a 100 dollar gift card that goes perfectly with the order. i may try another one. but i might go and talk to the manager of the store as well. i do know there is a limited # of limited edition but as the game hasnt even gone gold yet or started shipping i would guess that we can still preorder a certain amount and they can order that many, unless there is a limit for each store!
How much each store orders depends on what their forecast is for the potential sales figure they are going to get for that particular item. Halo 4 will sell well, and your Best Buy probably will have Halo 4 in droves. They just probably didn’t foresee so many people asking for the LE, and didn’t order enough to meet demand. Of course now it’s too late, so once they’re out, they’re out.
You might just have to try another Best Buy.

Um they game isnt finished yet so how can a store be out of resources for ordering given amounts when they still have 5+ months to order more
note: it was announced that LE will be limited very limited in available quantities as compared to reach.
Knowing that if you guys dont think you want a LE edtion but place a preorder set it for the LE just incase you do want it and if not change it 1 month in advance so to avoid never getting one

Microsoft already knows how many copies of the LE they are going to make- they already said how it’ll be very limited. Which means they have a set number in place, a number they won’t move from.
Say for example they will make 1,000,000 copies. Best Buy would probably get say 200,000 of those based on its size as a company. Of those 200k, they get sent to individual stores based on things like general sales and location. But once that store runs out, they’re out and you have to try a different store. It happens at Gamestop all the time.
Edit: Worse case scenario OP, you can just order online and have it delivered to the store for pick up at day 1. Doesn’t cost anything extra, so…
In my experience with BB and big releases on big titles is they tend to only take pre-orders about a month or two before release, and if there is a Big store (Like the one in NYC that had the last launch) they will only open one store for midnight launch.
This might change from city to city though, so check other BB’s
Also I wouldn’t be too concerned with what MS says about limited quantity, I still see tons of Lim and Leg additions of both H3 (wow right) and Reach all over (ok maybe not all over, but if you look you can find it easy enough). I am sure they will make enough that if a person wants to get their hands on it they will on launch month.

The game is coming out in 4 months, 3 days, meaning that they have about three months and a half to order the games. Just saying…
what i would like to know is, will i receive the game day 1 if i pre-ordered online?
It will be there the release day usually, which is the day after midnight release, you will probably have to wait less than 24 hrs to get it ( as opposed to getting it a midnight). Or you can do in store pick up.
> what i would like to know is, will i receive the game day 1 if i pre-ordered online?
Depends on your delivery method:
If you do in-store pick up, then most likely yes.
If delivery, then you have to specify that you want ‘overnight’ shipping to get it day 1. Which costs much money. Best to do in-store pick up and have it shipped to the store.
I usually just pre-order it online. Saves me the hassle of having to go outside.
where does it say pre order for pick up online ios it on the BB website?
Maybe they ran out. I know Best Buy has a limited quantity of Limited Edition preorders for games. The rest of the Limited Edition are given out at the midnight release for those who didn’t preorder.
Well It seems that Halo 4 Limited Edition is not available for pick up… that sucks?

Right but each corporation takes out a certain large order in advance. Then they split it up into the various regions based on expected demand. The limited editions and such get split up nation wide this way aswell with the rest of the normal copies from corporate. Then its either broken down further into how many limiteds a store can put on hold for themselves or they make the rule region wide. This is why some stores in certain areas can’t take any more pre-orders a few months in advance for a limited yet a store in the middle of nowhere can end up with an extra 5 copies of it just lying around for years to come.
