To be more precise V2 Scarabs. Look at this image of a V2 Scarab notice the tiny feet? Now imagine all that weight of the Scarab pressing down on the tiny feet into damp mud and weak concrete. Isn’t this horrible design? The legs of the Scarab would sink right into the ground making it useless, what the hell?
I think your forgetting this is Reach, the hole game had “What the hell?!” written all over it.

You realize these Scarabs have been in Halo 3, ODST, Halo Wars and Reach right?

Really? I don’t remember they’re feet always being so small though. Seemed like they were sturder looking.

Nope always that way. Many a time I have had those tiny feet crush my mongoose back in Halo 3 on The Storm.

Good times…

Yea now I remember The Storm legendary, many a mongoose was squished by those tiny spider like feet. -_- and then came the flying dumpster to save the day. Good times.
loved the halo 2 scarab
everyone will hate me but I like the look of the Halo 3 Scarab more than the Halo 2 one.

Exactly. I remember playing the storm and thinking “WTF?” To me those two-towed “armor plates” that flap around slightly higher on the leg should’ve always been the “front” of the foot and the “tiny leg” should’ve been the 3rd support toe lying flat on the ground as a support (But then they would’ve been considerably shorter when standing on the ground and it probably wouldn’t look that good without shortening that 3rd support toe. I had always thought the animators perhaps didn’t understand the 3d model and got the animation/physics wrong but it’s never been corrected so that’s obviously how they wanted it.

I remember playing the storm and thinking “Yoink!?” To me those two-towed “armor plates” that flap around slightly higher on the leg should’ve always been the “front” of the foot and the “tiny leg” should’ve been the 3rd support toe lying flat on the ground as a support (But then they would’ve been considerably shorter when standing on the ground and it probably wouldn’t look that good without shortening that 3rd support toe. I think there are antigravity things on the bottom. I remember in halo2 jumping underneath the scarab and it simulated like 3 times less gravity… then dieing from fall damage.
“This thing is really starting to PISS ME OFF”
“marines, time to kill us a scarab”

So you’re saying the Scarab might have anti gravity boosters under its feet? It doesn’t seem that way in game. Also they would have to be very powerful to support the scarab falling from low orbit.
B.S. ANGEL! GET IN HERE! We need an official statement!
I do believe they have always had rather small contact points, but then again, I don’t believe we know how much a scarab weighs, though it has to be a lot.
It would present some serious practical difficulty, but that decrease in surface area and increase in pressure would be valuable of you were trying to crush stuff with it.
(I always loved in Halo 2, trying to stand right under where the Scarab was going to step before going into the one building.)

I think he’s saying there is an Anti-Gravity projector on the belly. There was a huge weird green thing on the bottom of the Halo 2 Scarab.
You do realize that the Halo 2 Scarab had even thinner and spindlier legs that the subsequent version, right? I don’t know how to set up links, but here it is : Halo Alpha | Fandom

There and BTW is would be really hard not to get crushed by the scarab if it had bohemoth feet.
> loved the halo 2 scarab
Honestly! They shoul dhave just added more polygons to it for the following Halo games. And made the legs a but buffer.
> everyone will hate me but I like the look of the Halo 3 Scarab more than the Halo 2 one.
Keep in mind that they’re two different types. One is for mining (Halo 2,) and the other is for assault.
And I don’t think they have anti gravity. It would not be that outrageous for the “points” to support the Scarab,
perhaps it doesn’t need huge feet since the weight of the object is not directly over the feet. We also don’t know exactly how much the Scarab weighs, perhaps Covenant material is much lighter than what the UNSC/Humans would build things out of.
