I have a friend who has never played Halo before and I want him to experience how awesome it is and let him borrow my copy of Anniversary after I’m done with my first playthrough. But if I wanted to play with him over multiplayer via map pack/CEA disk am I able to do that? Or are they on different servers altogether? I don’t know if this has been addressed or not, but I am rather curious.
If he has Reach and buys the map pack himself, then he will be able to play against you. However, Halo: CE Anniv comes with only one copy of the multiplayer maps. If he were to buy them without reach, he would be unable to play them because he cannot get to the multiplayer menu.
But it also comes with the multiplayer on the disk. I haven’t installed the map pack yet, does the multiplayer on the disk magically go away or something?

If there is multiplayer on the disc (which I did not know that until now) and you download the maps onto your Xbox with the voucher. You should be able to use your copy of Reach to get to multiplayer while he uses the Halo CE Anniv. I know the maps were meant to be compatible with the Halo Reach disc.
If you use the dlc code to dl your maps into reach, them give your friend the cea disk, you should be able to play. You’ll have you on the reach disks with the maps as dlc and your friend on the cea disk. The cea multiplayer servers are reach’s servers all they are both reach multiplayer. There are specific playlists for cea maps or you could do custom games.
