Yep it’s true. Feel like your aim is bad well the pro players who work at 343 are to blame.

Because leaving it like every Halo before it (aside from H3) just wouldn’t be 343 enough.

You’ll no doubt get people on here telling you to get gud, or practice or some other bllsht. The bottom line is they screwed up the aiming for a lot of people.
It’s erratic and inconsistent for people that have a certain aiming style they’ve adopted through years of playing Halo. Why should we have to adapt to a crappy inconsistent aiming mechanic, this is the single thing that is -Yoink!- me off most about this game at the moment.
To keep everyone happy why not just have 2 aiming modes you can choose from. Pro bllsht and Halo 5 Beta. Then everyone’s happy, and we can all go about enjoying the game.
This will simply end up being another example of how 343i’s best contributions to halo are putting things back into the game that they took out in the first place

Yea it’s bad that enough and looking back, Bungie didn’t need pro players helping them with their game, they knew how to make rock solid aim system and it didnt cater to one side.

I think the pro players have their place. Bungie may not have needed them, but I think 343 do. Halo 4 was pretty damn awful WRT weapon balance when it came out. Now, IMO, it plays like a dream, and from memory I think that was Bravo and a few others that really shaped the whole balancing patch.
I hate the Aiming in this game too, I can’t wait for reach BC it should be fun until this gets fixed
What exactly is wrong with the aiming? Not at all trolling. Legitimate question because I serious don’t see it.
I’ve seen several threads on the topic and have just let them go to the wayside because I honestly don’t know what half of them are even talking about. But -Yoink- it, I’ll bite.
What’s the big deal? The only thing I’ve noticed myself is that occasionally aim assist likes to snap to targets that run across my screen when I’m shooting at something or someone else. But I haven’t seen it as a big enough problem to throw all these rants about. So is that it? Or is there more that just isn’t bothering me?

There’s nothing wrong with the aim. People who are bad at the game are asking for a patch to magically make them good at it.

Large dead zones in the controller coupled with a very wonky aim acceleration system
The slow diagonal aim was supposed to have been fixed with the last controller firmware update and the btb update but still persists for some people
It feels much less smooth and consistent from the beta (IMO)
Check out the links the OP provided, there are examples there of the aim acceleration being messed up
They’d designed it in a way that (And this is just me throwing out numbers because I am unsure of the actual math/stats)
But they’v emade it so that when you move the thumbsticks anywhere between 0-40% (again these are not actual numbers this is a for instance) the aiming mechanic recognises this as like a precision aim and it quite slow and clunky but if you move the sticks anywhere between 41%-100% it enters into turning mode and causes you to be all over the place.
once that happens, the battle is essentially done and you would have lost
Theres no smooth transition from one mechanic (precision aim) to the other (turning)
I mean in theory I think I understand why they did it this way, it is to introduce a skill gap based on muscle memory and to reward people who don’t go all berko with their aiming when under pressure and when they get panicked
So the calm cool and smooth one will always come out on top
Now, that being said that was also how the OLD aiming mechanic worked without introducing the bi-level aim mechanic
Then again I may be completely wrong and talking form my posterior

Well that’s just factually wrong
the developer of the game has even said that they changed the aiming mechanic from the beta and from past halo’s
I’m not bad at halo, I’m not a halo god, but I am an average - decent player who in every single halo I’ve played always gone positive, in the H5 beta I think I had a kd/a of 16.8
In the actual games release I can’t even break even
They changed the aiming and not for the better which is exactly why people are complaining about it
Its silly to put the blame solely on the Pros, they don’t have supreme power and you can bet that a bunch of people who are not anywhere near pro level had to sign off on it as well.
It was a stupid decision to give two different levels of turning speed based on how far the analog stick was pulled. Did they forget the reason aim-assist exists for consoles in the first place is because the sticks simply are not that precise? This isn’t a casual or competitive issue, I’ve seen plenty of instances on streams where the aim of pro-players suddenly go all over the place because they ended up fighting the aim assist. Its like they designed the aiming for a Wiimote.
I frankly have no idea what they are talking about when they talk about long range gameplay in the Beta being ‘squirrely’. The only instance where I felt that might be the case is with the Magnum, but that wasn’t because of the aiming system, it was because the Pistol had crap range in the Beta. I had no trouble aiming the BR, DMR, LR, or Sniper at long range in the Beta. I have no idea what the thought process was, did they base the aiming system around the magnum while not realizing that the mid-long range aiming problems with the magnum were magnum specific?

I can’t speak much about the dead zones. I have the Elite controller and even if I slightly move the aiming joystick ever so slightly the reticule moves on my screen. Seriously feels like no deazone at all.
As as far as the supposed “wonky” aim acceleration, I am loving this. It allows me to be precise with my subtle aiming movements and at the same time allows me to turn around at a quicker pace. This is a problem I wish was solved years ago as I have been playing halo since the original. I used to run a much higher sensitivity in halo 3 just to turn faster at the expense of my aim.
I am am not a pro, I’m not even a great player. I do well enough and am thoroughly enjoying Halo 5. People are just gonna whine and moan no matter what 343 does. Halo 4 was too casual and now Halo 5 is too “pro”…
Halo is competitive. It always has been. You fight to defeat other players. Now the aiming is less helpful than other Halos (Reach, 4, etc) and requires more skill and you cry because it exposes how much you relied on the aim assist.

I seriously have no issues with the aiming system.
I give 343 alot of -Yoink- for their screwups but the way aiming works hasn’t been an issue. Change your sensitivity, learn to deal with whatever auto aim gain or reduction there is, and adapt.
TL;DR “Get gud you casual”

This.
Please refrain from referring to those people as “Pro Player’s”. those people have no Bloody clue what their doing. most of the issues within the game with mechanics and balancing is most likely on them. i wouldn’t be surprised if those Noobs were the reason why WA is so heavily imbalanced and in 90% favor of the attacking team.
Honestly they just need to Drop that team and listen to fan feedback to sustain a healthy population on halo.

OP get good. Also keep picking up my sniper so I can betray your -Yoink-.

This “git gud” nonsense needs to stop
It’s not a matter of “gitting gud”
343i has come out and said they changed the aiming mechanics from the beta
They changed the inner most core of an FPS, the aiming, changed it from a mechanic that worked perfectly fine since the beginning of halo a mechanic that worked perfectly fine in the beta

It worked, but now it works better. It also requires more skill than in previous halo games. Get gud might be a troll thing to say on its own, but that’s literally what you need to do. Get better at playing the game and you won’t be complaining anymore. Practice, as they say, makes perfect.
Your skills are to blame for your aim. There is a reason people who complain about the aiming are the laughing stock of this forum- everyone else is doing just fine.
