And please don’t tell me - but this is supporting for the HCS teams. They have a sponsorship from many companies. If I want to support them I will buy tee-shirt or hat from HCS store. I spent my time to make REQ points exactly for this packages and now I’m very disappointed.

A good portion goes to the teams and players. Its akin to buying a football jersey or a baseball cap. Obviously not for everyone, but I didn’t bat an eye buying EG and CLG. I’ll but nV’s too when it comes out. If you can’t part ways with 10 bucks or don’t have a grownup job or whatever i get it, but its not much really.

Cosmetic items are fine if they can be earned with in game points, buy them ? No chance. I appreciate some players think they’re worth it, no problem, it’s your cash to do with as you see fit, enjoy what you buy.
Edit = Just saw you can’t complete your collections without spending money, lot’s of games do that though. I don’t agree with it, but it’s common now.

Um… I’m almost certain that emotes do not make you take down Oryx easier. They are emotes. Cosmetics. Those are what you’re suppose to lock behind a paywall, because they have no affect on the game at all. Look at Gears 3, plenty of skins exist in the base game, but there’s tons of cooler ones that you need to pay $3 for. That’s a proper microtransaction market.
Also, the first HSC pack supported the HSC specifically, with a portion of the money going towards the organization and it’s prize pool. The team skins support the teams specifically and yes, while they do have many sponsors across gaming, you can never have too many.
Yeah you don’t have to buy the HCS pack. It’s not a requirement nor does it affect gameplay. The HCS pack exists for people to support an e-sport team by buying something that lets the fans sport the colors of whatever team they like through a transaction of goods. This is no different from individual sports teams or the franchise of a sport selling jerseys, hats, etc. for fans that want to show support for a given team or group of teams.

Or…yanno it’s par for the course given how sports jerseys and caps are 80+ dollars. People will purchase what they like in support of a team. It’s just the unfortunate nature of things. 10 dollars by comparison is hardly a lot within the same category of sports fandom merch. End of the day it’s still completely option and has zero effect on gameplay. People who want to go out of their way to support a team it’s their own choice.
If you want to get really egregious with aesthetic skin-game cost ratio you should check out Overwatch: Origins Edition. That’s a scam for your buck in terms of artificial pricing so far as consoles were concerned since they were forced to buy optional aesthetic skins for an extra twenty bucks.
If you have everything unlocked you only have to buy 4 packs to get all the skins. Both team and HCS. People subscribe and donate on twitch for practically nothing. Atleast this way your giving back to the community and its pro players and you get some skins and emblems. $10 is fine, I bought them all and will buy the next batch that comes out too
