what do all you competitive players think of the “pro” slayer playlist that 343 has revealed?
if you guys dont know about it =
-You can start with a DMR, BR or AR primary
-A pistol secondary
-No Armor Abilities
-The Re-Supply Armor Mod
-One Frag Grenade
-There will be no radar
-10-15% increase on other actions (Reload/Sprint speed)
-There will also be only classic weapons spawns (Ordnance drops)
forgot to add poll unfortunately sorry id still like your opinions though
Any gametype is fine, I can adapt to it. I want to play against people of similar skill level. You can give me low grav insta-gib matches with no recharge, whatever settings you want. If it’s just shooting fish in a barrel, what’s the point?
I’m in no way endorsing a visible ranking system. I don’t care either way. I just really want the matches to be skill focused rather than match time focused.
I’d like to have an LR only variant but I love it. It’s got player attributes similar to how the average “Kill’em all and fast.” would equip themselves with armour mods in Infinity playlists and is just “normal” rifles. This isn’t MLG so the BR and DMR allows a little bit of spice in an another-wise raw yet fast precision-rifle experience.
The reason I’d take the LR only gametype is because it’s pretty much the counter to both the BR and DMR, depending on the range you pick to engage the BR or DMR at. It needs to be it’s own singular “pro” experience.
I think it’s great, now I don’t have to play a single game of “Slayer Pro” or other limited variant of it. Most of people voted it just because the gametype had “Pro” on it and automatically made them incredibly skilled for voting it.

I don’t think it needs to be gone, but I just won’t be able to enjoy something like that, it’s the same thing with MLG. People can play it if they want to, but I will never touch it.
> Slayer Pro will have it’s own playlist. It looks like this will be the Halo 4 answer to a competitive players wishes.

I think its great, reminds me of H2 =)
I will of course play the other playlists with the new additions, but ordnance and personal weapon drops automatically turn me off to them.
Should be interesting to see what medium MLG finds between Infinity and Slayer Pro.

Most people that thought they were good didn’t vote pro because it didn’t have radars, true story.
As for OT, it would be nice but it isn’t any more competitive than any other playlist unless there is stricter matchmaking (which hasn’t been confirmed contrary to popular belief) and no guests allowed. If there is stricter matchmaking every playlist, even grifball, will be competitive.
Easily the best playlist IMO. The only thing that would make it better is if sprint was disabled, but then again the entire game would benefit from that, not just slayer pro.
I love the idea, and I’ll definitely be playing it, but I wish they allowed all the primary weapons. I’d like to be able to use the carbine or light rifle sometimes.
I can’t wait to play it. Don’t get me wrong I will be playing a lot of Inf slayer and BTB as well but when I want a more stream lined game pro will be fun to.
I have high hopes for it, Reach wasn’t a failure it just launched with NOWHERE for competitive players which made a big chunk of the fans go elsewhere.
As long as Halo 4 launches with a place for everyone, each playlist can be changed to suit over time but having a playlist in the first place is a good start.
Im more interested in default slayer than infinity slayer or slayer pro. I want to play slayer as I know it. I want to play a gametype that reminds me of the experiences of halo 3 and reach. infinity slayer’s form of weapon spawning leaves much to be desired, and slayer pro removes half of the game.
give me slayer with all of the loadout stuff, but put static weapon spawns on the map. thats all I’m asking for. no ordinance, and no random power weapons.

Yes, maybe some new weapons could be introduced later on but at least we dont have to worry about PP -Yoink!- day 1 or whatever OP combo that may arise. So if regular MM gets frustrating like Reach with all the abilities and such, you always have that competitive playlist there to fall back on.

actually they have said that they are matching people bases alot more on skill than randomness like in reach

Bungie promised better match ups for Reach despite removing the rank system visually.

dunno really, but i trust 343, they have gave reasons, such as less game types in each playlists making it easier to track skills and things, just trying to look on the bright side mr doom and gloom
Considering that reach launched with “Arena”, which was hyped as a competitive playlist, I’m not to impressed. On the other hand though, this playlist needed to be added to Halo 4. Since Halo 4 is debuting a few days early at MLG Dallas, they needed to have some type of competitive aspect/playlist integrated into the game.
I want this game to be reminiscent of the old Halo 2/ Halo 3 days. The onyl other thing that would make this game better is the addition of a visual skill based ranking structure (Hot debate right now it seems). I remember hearing frankie say that he would be talking about those details closer to launch, so I have my fingers crossed. The standard progression system that is currently in place is alright, but they need to add a little somethign extra.
