As someone who has been playing Halo since a few weeks after launch of CE, Did anyone else use the series 2 controller? I bought one. And was so impressed, till the thumb stick hardly works.
How did it feel to you? Did you/ do you play with alot?
I tired it. Used it for Warzone tried to learn it after all the years of bumper jumper, I couldn’t figure out how to use it. Lol
Its been topselfed for months since I’ve used it since I’ve been using a regular licensed controller, and I’m a hell of alot more consistent.
Will I try to learn to use it? Maybe, again busted left stick. Any way to fix it?
Will you use it? Learn how to? Its a massive curve to learn. The remap is nice and all. But man, learning it is the tricky part.
Not really sure how playing since CE ties into this per say but anyway…
Yes, I’ve used both the Elites Series 1 & 2. I’ve definitely had more issues with the Series 2 with it breaking or having issues. Luckily Microsoft’s warranty is excellent so they replaced it for free twice now
I use Bumper Jumper as my control scheme. I found that mapping your ABXY buttons to your paddles is your best bet. Allows you to keep your thumbs on the sticks whilst also being able to access your reload, sprint, weapon switch etc.
Just takes practice to get the muscle memory built up so you can use it effectively. It’s very different at first but when you get used to it it’s a fantastic controller.
I have used elite series 1 controller in the past and now elite series 2 controller. I really like the series 2, however the rb stopped working after 10months of use and Microsoft replaced it with no issues. Elite series 2 tend to break and I advise taking out insurance so you have that piece of mind if the controller breaks after the first year. I use fishstick in Halo 5 and default in halo infinite and use paddles for a/b/lsd/rsd. In halo infinite I remapped by swapping (in game remapping) rb <> lb. Elite series 2 feels good in your hands and right now if my controller breaks and I don’t have any insurance I would go out and buy another elite series 2. Microsoft must make these controllers more durable as they are not cheap.
I loved it but started running into problems after 6 months and eventually my jump button LB stopped working. It is not made well in my opinion. My friends broke sooner than mine and we bought it at the same time. I went back to a regular controller.
I don’t like paddles as it interferes with my grip and the price is just completely bonkers for such low quality. That thing costs almost as much as a Filco keyboard, which I regard as the highest quality peripheral ever built.
I love all the improvement the Elite 2 controller made, but it just has too many reliability issues. MS needs to go back to the drawing board with it. Elite 1 lasted me years until it fell off my desk and messed up the USB port on it (the cable was still plugged in when it fell.) Only bad thing about the first Elite controller was that the grips were starting to peal off, but that took years to get to that point.
I bought the S2. And after just 4 or so months the left thumb stick would make me stop walking. I would have to slick it in to gain movement again. If they were 100% more reliable, i would buy another.
But 200 dollars is damn near a console.

I use it, and I Found my skill expotentionally increased. Not just in Halo, but other games too. Series 2 Button Map was my favorite thing about it.
