Pro players fed up

This will not surprise me in the least bit. I can see, whatever season forge releases with, it being part of a group deal with the paid for battle pass.

The hidden MMR that the SBMM is based on causes a lot of problems for both Ranked and Social.

Also I’m sick of playing objective playlists with no comms and randoms in ranked. Bring ranked slayer in already.

Edit : As bad as Behemoth CTF was, ranked feels even dryer without it. I’d rather they fix things than completely remove them. I hated when they removed Overgrowth and Molten from H5 too.

Maps are just pretty bad overall in this game. None of them stick out as instant classics. I wish they would have capitalized on the nostalgia hype and included some remakes but they probably would have found a way to screw that up too.

Regarding the (hidden) skill based matchmaking, does it even work? Idk if this is just me but the social matches I play in I have to hard carry. Like 22-30 kills to even come close to winning. The system just loves pairing me with what seems like dudes who just picked up a controller for the first time, dudes who are playing with their toes or something idk. Sean W has one hand and plays better.

I’m thinking of Halo 2. That game had DLC and that content was incredible! The game is free to play and you don’t have to buy anything in the store. Some will and some won’t. Not much outside of that that you can control or worry about. If you aren’t enjoying the game find something else to play.

Do you think that we will have the option to purchase items through Forge specifically for Forge?

Hum, I actually don’t have much problem with the maps personally. I feel they’re all actually pretty decent. The worst one is probably Behemoth, due to I feel it’s a least to easy to lock down spawns in but I can still manage to enjoy it.

What makes a map actually stand out to you then?

for someone like me the maps are mostly fine, but they all feel the same on a functional level, aesthetically they’re pretty different but its all annoyingly similar.

a map that would stand out for me if it were something you wouldn’t usually see when it comes to layouts and power weapon placements.

Worst one is Launch Site. I actually think that takes the crown as the worst map ever put in a Halo game tbh. I’d take a Snowbound or Backwash remake over it.

Previous Halo titles had some tie in to the campaign story and that’s missing here. There was no point in the campaign where we went to any of these locations so it’s immediately missing the relevance to Halo. I can look past that if the map design is good, but 343i map designers (or whoever they outsource this to) has a -Yoink!- with human facilities and clamber points. The mark of a good map is not that everything is clamber-able.

There’s no sense of grandeur or verticality to these maps. Compare the three level maps in this game (Live Fire, Bazaar) to a map like construct. They are designed for completely different games. Even just comparing the tower in Live Fire to the towers on The Pit, there’s no verticality and it looks cramped and small…

Above all else, the biggest piece to it is creativity. The maps in this game all being human centric within human facilities is just boring. There’s only but so much pizazz you can give to human building walls and stairs in every single map. The majority of maps in this game are 3 lane maps which is not inherently bad, but makes gameplay repetitive when they all incorporate the 3 lane design in the same way in the same kind of atmosphere.

Last, but not least, the lack of a veto system is a pain point and just encourages quitting. I have never loaded into a Launch Site game and thought ā€œoh fun, I should stick around and enjoy this god awful mapā€.

I don’t think they can monetize Forge or Forge items. This is because the Forge creators create content for the game for free. If it costs money, then the creators would need to be paid for providing content to Matchmaking.
