Pretty disapointed with the recent trailer

So in the recent Halo 5 Locke trailer, he is shown walking towards a dying Master Chief mumbling out a load of rubbish. It really seems that 343 are empty on ideas for a good Halo story, to continue making games and money. It looks like they are questioning all of Bungie’s good Halo games and pretending that they never happened, or somehow a lie. ??? Somebody explain 343’s -Yoink- idea please…

Bungie never explained jack -Yoink- in their games. Hell, at least Halo 4 explained the spartan project.

And 343i left out 4 years worth of events in Halo 4 such as where the Infinity came from, why Spartan 4’s existed, who the Didact and Librarian were, why the covenant were attacking humans again, etc. Your point?

Cortana and Chief discuss both Infinity and how one faction of the Covenant is ignoring the truce early in the game. The Librarian and Didact are explained in the terminals.

The Spartan-IVs are never explained in the game.

No one knows what you’re talking about.

Do you even Halo?

343i has made put more story into the Halo Franchise ten fold of what Bungie did. They are all hype trailers adding more excitement, and mystery around the new game.

“They seem more fanatical” is a poor excuse for an explanation. They questioned why they are attacked, but didn’t really come up with an answer to give the player closure. It would have been acceptable if someone on the Infinity explained it, because at least they’ve been in the loop on the status of post-war events. But Chief and Cortana have been isolated for those last 4 years, so their theories are just speculation at best.

And terminals were not viewable in game, you had to go to waypoint to view them. I don’t appreciate having to connect to the internet to get the full story of what should have been an offline single player campaign. It’s almost as bad as requiring players to invest in other media outside of the game to understand what’s happening in the game’s campaign.

I don’t understand your logic at all. They release a simple hype trailer that is very symbolic, and you immediately jump to conclusions saying they ran out of ideas and are trying to question Bungie. I bet if Bungie did this you would be all over it saying how amazing it is, fanboy.

I don’t even…

You honestly said a lot of nothing. What are you complaining about? Nothing in lockes training has anything to do with previous halo. Your post actualy gave me a headache

Bungie never explained the S-IIs or S-IIIs in game so why should 343 have to justify the S-IVs. I mean the UNSC has already produced 1 batch of S-IIs and 3 batches of S-IIIs and those all turned out well. Why wouldn’t they invest in a new batch of super soldiers?

Shhhh, don’t use logic here, I’ve found my efforts to be in vain.

You’ve only seen half the story, no wonder you’re confused.

My interest has never been stronger in an upcoming Halo title, perhaps only challenged by my anticipation for ODST. I don’t know why the trailers didn’t do the same for you, but I feel bad for you.

The only thing that really bother me about either of the trailers was that “all hail the conquering hero” line in Locke’s trailer. So melodramatic and cringeworthy. Mike Colter delivered it as well as anyone could, but that writing is just painful.

IMO Halo 1 and 3 had pretty boring storylines. They were pretty straight forward and I expected everything. Best part is how they didn’t explain much about the Spartans or Forerunners; there was barely any lore coverage(disreagarding Halo 3 terminals)

Locke’s trailer didn’t question anything at all which Bungie covered before. It expanded on it.

The trailers are supposed to give out a message/set hype, not actually disclose all of the plot.

The only thing that bothers me is the writing for Locke’s trailer.

Do us a favour and read up on stuff before you complain about it…

The trailers were meant to leave you with more questions than answers, to get you interested and excited.
