Prepping for 2013's E3 yet?

I know it’s only April, but I’m already crossing my fingers to see Halo’s next teaser at E3 this year. After 343’s successful launch of Halo 4, I have been impatiently waiting to see what is up next.

I want to see where they are leading us, since the Didact’s death was so anti-climatic. I have read every book and beat every game, from beginning to end, to be sure I know all there is to know so far.

Although I want to see Halo 5 coming soon, I want to see a Halo 2 remake just as badly. But unfortunately I doubt 343 can provide both at once, so I am forced to decide which I want to see first. Halo 5 is a definite, whereas Halo 2 is only a good idea.

BUT I am loosing focus. MAIN TOPIC: Are you ready for E3 yet, and what are you hoping to see?

A showing of the next gen Xbox as well as whatever Halo 343i is working on!

I don’t entirely look forward to the nex gen console, MOSTLY because I just got the Halo 4 console for Christmas.

Unless it’s a teaser for Halo 2 Anniversary with the original multiplayer intact then I really don’t care since it’s pretty obvious.

That Halo 5 is going to follow the same path as this game and stray further from it’s roots as an arena style shooter and become more and more like Cod.

If the next xbox is only about running games online and with no offline capability like some rumours are suggesting and from the look of Halo 4 and how terrible it is… I’m not looking forward to them ruining any more Halo games.

343 didn’t even make the first anniversary so it would’t even affect halo 5 anyway.

I only want to hear about the next generation xbox.

I don’t understand why everyone thinks like this. With the current state of Halo 4 anything is possible. 343 really needs to keep an eye out for all the things discussed on here, in game, and anywhere else that they can receive advice. Take armor abilities for instance.

343 didn’t want to ditch these hated additions from Reach but it’s hard not to say they did a better job with AA’s than Reach did. No more armor lock with HLS being it’s replacement, Camo just got slightly nerfed, Jetpack got nerfed(even though it still breaks map flow, Thruster pack is somewhat useless but at least balanced and can be deadly in the right hands(it’s like the weaker version of evade), P-viz is not really OP(you can judge that by the amount of people not using it), and regen has some good uses to it but once again not as OP as armor lock.

If 343 can refine the AA’s once more and maybe turn jetpack and camo into a map pickup Halo 5 could be a pretty competitive game. I wouldn’t mind seeing all the AA’s turned into pickups. Force some movement so players can gain advantages by actually pushing on maps. AA’s seem like a fantastic idea when you turn them into pickups. Maybe give them a limited use. 3 boosts for jetpack, 30 seconds of H2/H3 style invis, 3 boosts for thruster pack(without a recharge), One use for regen(like H3 equipment).

A scenario would be say… Lockout with a jetpack map pickup. Map control is key on Lockout and lift spawn is always at a disadvantage. Give a jetpack to elbow and all of a sudden you give the losing team a chance without giving the full team advantages to choose from. They still have to get to elbow corner and they still have to tactically use jetpack.

Either way this has to be coupled with legitimate weapon pickups too. Ordnance kills map flow hands down. If 343 can figure out that PO actually puts lesser players at a disadvantage they might change their philosophy on PO. PO are basically like CoD’s killstreaks. They aren’t as brutal but they hurt lesser players far more than they help them. It’s like "let’s give the better players more power weapons and not even force them to rush for them to kill the idea of map movement. The reason I think BTB is so popular is because it brings the elements of map movement into play far more than basic Infinity Slayer because their is a push for the vehicles. Why would I go push for a railgun in the middle of the map when I can sit back with my DMR and gain one through PO?

Like I said though… If 343 can figure out that PO actually hurts lesser players more than it helps them than their can be hope for Halo 5. I’m not going to say I lost faith in 343 considering I can still see the good in Halo 4. I’m just hoping the really evaluate their decisions across the board for Halo 5. Playlists, Weapon tuning, AA’s, social/rank split, etc… The game needs to be great(or at least close to it) from day 1 because people don’t stick around and wait for games to become good through TU’s like they used to do during the H2/H3 days. They just pick up another game and never look back.

I could have sworn I read something about one Halo title being released every year, now I really doubt Halo 5 will be releasing in the fall that would be absurd.

So far Halo has been released almost every year…

2007- Halo 3
2008- ?
2009- Halo Wars, Halo 3:ODST
2010- Halo Reach
2011- Halo: CE Anniversary
2012- Halo 4
2013- ?

Maybe something will be announced at E3 this year regarding halo. A Halo 2 remake is possible but those are just rumors at this point.

There are 3 things in my mind that we could see at E3 that are Halo.

  1. Halo 2: Anniversary for the new Xbox or 360.

  2. Spartan Ops: Season 2 for Halo 4.

  3. 3 new Maps packs for Halo 4.

I’m really hoping for number 1 though.

I don’t particularly care about this year’s E3 since I don’t care about Halo 4 or Halo 5 and I know that 343i won’t do something as majestic as Halo 2 Anniversary, and if, in the unlikely event they do, they won’t do it properly.

If its going to be anything like the first Anniversary edition then Saber Integrative will do the campaign and Certain infinity will do Multiplayer but 343 Industries will overlook the game in general. Hopeful that it will turn out decent.

They will more than likely add the H2 maps to Halo 4 and kill all of our hopes and dreams of having classic Halo 2 on XBL again whether that be with old graphics or new graphics. They will probably also mess New and Old Mombasa up(which shouldn’t be possible).

The ultimate scenario for me is to have Halo 2 arcade(classic mp with classic graphics) release free with every new Nextbox this holiday(I would be so happy if this happened). H2A campaign remake with a handful of classic and maybe new maps for Halo 4 holiday 2014. And finally Halo 5 in 2015. All this with a couple map packs for Halo 4 sprinkled in between. I know this probably won’t happen though as 343 is probably scared to death of killing off the remaining Halo 4 population.

The only two Halo related things I want to see at E3 are an ODST sequel on the next Xbox and Spartan Ops season 2.

Halo 2 Anniversary is fine, but I don’t think we need it.

I also wouldn’t call Halo 4’s launch successful. It’s not the blunder of the year but its far from perfect.

I guarantee you that Halo 4 is the way it is because Microsoft rushed it out the door. If it had another year of dev time, it would probably have all the customs options, features and gametypes we could ask for. The playlist selection at launch would have been planned better, Forge Island would have been available by December, Crimson Majestic and Castle wouldn’t have come out so quickly and the Limited Edition wouldn’t have felt like a waste of money to a lot of people.

I want to see these 3 things in E3 this year:

Halo 2 anniversary
New XBOX
and Half-Life 3(a man can dream, cant he?)

Halo 4 had over 3 years of development invested into it.

Hopefully hear some news on new xbox.

The next generation Xbox, that would be cool.

For Halo 4 I would like 343 to announce lots of other stuff for the game, maybe it can bring the population up a bit.
I hope they don’t announce Halo 5, I want them to spend time on that, not rush it out the door as quickly as they can.

At the most, the VERY most, e will get a teaser like Halo 4’s announcement trailer that tells us practically nothing about the game except some very mild story implications. By the time E3 has come along, 343i would have had less than one year to work on their new game with a full team, and that is nonsense. If they show a trailer this E3 the game will likely come out by the end of 2014 which is just about 2 years of work. No thanks, I don’t want an unfinished product.

A Halo 2 remake made again by Saber while 343i focus on Halo 5 would actually be great, but I guess they might have to make a big deal out of it since it’s probably not going to be based off of Halo 4 (on the multiplayer side) this time since they’d likely want to make it next gen.

Since there’s no season 2 of Spartan Ops, that is the only thing that I can see happening now and even that’s a stretch considering Halo 2 will only be 10 years old in 2014. So to be frank, I expect a whole lot of nothing from 343i this year.

Yes but they began as a team of, what, nine people? They were also very inexperienced as a team and were taking up a Halo game which is not at all an uneasy task considering all the different game modes and communities they have to handle. They screwed up with MP by catering to the casual community which has now mostly left them (since casuals don’t remain in the long run on any game but CoD), they only thought of initial sales and now the game is at it’s peak with a 30 thousand man population (which is terrible when compared to previous titles). The point is that the people who actually play the game two months after release are the same people that want Halo to be less CoD-like and I think 343i acknowledged that.i They made mistakes and they learned from them, they are now a full team and they are much more experienced in working together, the next game is bound to be better than Halo 4 in every way but giving it two years (or less) of development time will not help anyone.
