Hi,
Basically what this achievement is is that your very first ever game of the campaign should be LASO. You can only go for this achievement once and once only. If you play your very first game of the campaign on anything other than LASO you’ll never be able to get the achievement. Yes you could create or use another profile to practice but where’s the fun in that!
I haven’t played Dark Souls yet but I heard it’s frikkin hard.
What do you think?
I prefer witnessing disgusting Flood stuff and mutation rather than play something that will surely destroy my already unstable sanity.
On seconds thoughts, maybe not…
Ya want to know how hard is Dark Souls? Here’s a hint: You turn the camera, you’re surprise attacked. It’s all I know, I don’t play it, but have seen the Nameless King fight. IDK which’s more difficult, Halo in Mythic or Dark Souls.
EDIT: In other words, I tried, I failed even at the first encounters. I just can’t, it’s too much for me =(.
That sounds annoying and like it would make a lot of people mad. I doubt people want to play LASO first thing when they buy a new game.
Also, Dark Souls is a great series, you should play it. It’s hard, but rewarding and fun.
It sounds like the vast bulk of the community would have an achievement they could not earn. What’s the fun in that?
I dont really like the idea of an achievement that can be done only once and if you didnt happen to check the achievement list then you are screwed with trying to get the perfect list. And in addition to that if it would be secret achievement it would be even worse.
Also, if its bugged some people would probably get mildly annoyed to find out that they cant get the achievement because of coding issues or something.
So im not really with the idea.
Also, Dark Souls is not really that hard as long as you know the mechanics and possibly learn the boss’ movesets.
The first Dark Souls is a parry parry parry game at least.
I don’t like the idea of an achievement that you could be locked out of based on how you choose to play. I imagine that since you’re suggesting it, you feel like you could LASO Halo Infinite on your first playthrough, but what about newcomers to the Halo franchise (after all, 343i is saying the Halo Infinite will be a great place for new players to enter the Halo universe)? Achievements shouldn’t be made with only one kind of player in mind.
Thanks for everyones points of view. Some interesting things I hadn’t thought of…
Haven’t played HALO in such a long time I’m starting from scratch again. REACH on Heroic with a few skulls on then will move up to Legendry in time so I’m no pro not in the slightest.
I dislike the LASO achievements as they are, much less if I had to grind them before I could enjoy the campaign first. No thanks
Achievemnets for LASO are stupid. It’s for masochists.

Agreed. Mythic should only be a choice and not count towards achievement progression.
I think that would just be a waste of an achievement and 200 gamerscore

That sounds interesting, what would be the plan to continue existing storylines with connections while making it a “great place for new players to enter”? It just has that marketing feeling to it.
And definitely achievements should have variation to them (and be achievable even later on).

Who knows. It could be just marketing, or it could be their way of addressing the feedback from players that said Halo 5 relied too much on external media to make sense.

Reasonable, but even though if infinite doesnt rely on books (which would be optional as i think games themselves should have story you can follow by only playing the games, at least the main storyline) it would still have connections to previous games. But i guess its just wait and see if such statements would make sense.

Infinite could have in-game ways of recapping the events of previous Halos that would give a newbie jumping into Halo at Infinite a quick rundown of what led up to the game. For a Halo game, I imagine this would be best done in the form of intel, NPC chatter, and terminals. Halo 4 tried to do this with that “Master Chief history terminal” on the first level, though it was a bit too in your face and expositional.

I guess it could be better than nothing though terminals would be perhaps just a bit too, secret in a way. Also if its text based then it could be rather boring first experiences.
And NPC chatter, maybe. Its just rarely well done as in its usually just too obvious attempt of exposition.
Even a video recap like in Dead Space 2 would perhaps be too rounded of an explanation.
Basically im not sure if there even is that good of a way to recap past events other than through continuational gameplay and storyline itself.
I just hope that whatever they are going to do they are doing properly.

That’s an incredibly terrible idea

The game never made sense even with the external media. They released stuff months after the game came out to try and explain some of it, but it only solved some questions. One example of something they didn’t explain until after the release of Halo 5 was how the Domain still existed.
At the end of Halo: Silentium, book three of the Forerunner saga, it is revealed that the activation of the Halo Array will destroy the Domain. Everyone already knows that the Forerunners fired the Array, so it was presumed that the Domain was destroyed. This book was released in March of 2013, and Halo 5 was released in October of 2015. In Halo 5, everything happening is a result of Cortana getting access to the Domain. That obviously didn’t make sense due to the fact that the Domain had been destroyed. In September of 2016, 11 months after the release of Halo 5, Halo: Fractures was released. The book was a collection of short stories in the Halo universe, one of which was a short story that explained how the Domain still existed.

I think people got confused because they didn’t know who Jul 'Mdama was, what the Domain was, what happened to the Didact, etc. Halo 4 on the other hand was heavily reliant on people reading the Forerunner Saga.
