What’s to explain other than the facts?
The first season of SO is free for all editions of Halo4. It will be at about 20 weeks long minimum and feature about 75 minutes or so of extra “campaign” spread out across 5 missions each week.
The second season of SO… We’ll that’s another story. Perhaps season 2 will be free or cheaper when season 3 comes out.
SO to recap, the first season is free, but will every season be free after that? We don’t know. I suspect not myself, and I don’t mind. I will gladly support 120 minutes spread out across 7 missions each week for 2 
Preorder bonuses are’nt going to be that big.

Pretty much this. The first season is already free and that’s an entire campaign’s worth of content. Extra revenue is needed to continue making more missions for players, and I feel that’s justified.

It would be cool but it would probably cost more than a standaerd pre-ordered copy. I honestly do not believe Microsoft would pass up a chance to make that much money, or let 343 do it
