Makes sense. If you preorder the game, chances are you will redeem your preoreder bonus well before the deadline.

They should put some widespread warnings out then. People don’t know about this.

I’m sure they’ll put the expiration date on the code card when we get them.

Nice to know, even though it wont apply to me because I’m putting in my code on November 6th.
It might be a problem for me, since my wi-fi isn’t currently connected to my Xbox, so I can only hope to get my Xbox live up and running before time runs out. I still got to put in the codes for my Halo 4 pre order stuff, some Halo Wars stuff, the Anniversary map pack, the grunt funeral skull, and the Halo CEA Master Chief avatar armor.

Just go on a computer and enter the code to your account at xbox.com, so it’ll be on there if you can’t get your xbox connected in time.
My Johnson pre-order code said use before 31st January 2010, I had a friend redeem it in 2011.

I bought the GameStop Reach armor more than a year after the game came out and it worked. I see some people selling them for hundreds.

Unfortunately no, it’s how they stop people from stealing various pre-order codes.
This’ll probably only make a difference to those who sell codes online, or give them away in contests.
