If only we could preload (download) the Warzone Firefight update right now, so that we can play it on Wednesday… if the update is around 20 GB in size, it’ll take me two days to download everything, so I won’t be able to play until Friday (not everyone has super fast internet).
Also, for the people new to Halo 5 who will download it for free later this week, it sucks for them too… they’ll have to download close to 100 GB just to play Halo 5 lol, and only have one week to play it (unless they decide to buy it)
im sorry what!! I have a 250GB hard drive on my Xbox and have 5 games Installed and still have 200gb free…your math is alittle off…maybe
I hear ya OP, I wish there was a way too. I thought one of the specific purposes of leaving your XB1 in Instant On mode was so updates would download automatically, but mine never works that way, I always have to manually trigger the download to start. If it drops after I leave for work Wednesday morning, then I won’t be playing it until Friday at the earliest, like you said. With it being so big and my Internet being so slow.
Oh man OP, you tricked me! I thought this was a link or way to pre-load it! I hate when I get on HaloWayPoint see all the raves about the new reqs, load up my game, and am greeted with “Cannot start until download complete” message. Kill la joy.

The reason we usually can’t preload is because the update is still getting its finishing touches. They can’t give us the download to an unfinished update. Believe me, I wish I could preload it too, but we have to be patient.

True, though I think the update would be finished by the time they stream it tomorrow afternoon

There isn’t an Xbox One model with only a 250GB HDD.

Actually, halo 5 is close to 80 gigs atm.
I wish this was possible…for me the day I always have to look forward to is the day after the update releases, cause that’s when my download finishes.
That would definitely be awesome , there ain’t anything I hate more then going online all excited and next thing you know I’m forced to wait however long just to wait for the game to update -_-
And holly crap fox, it seriously takes THAT long for you !?!?!?
The title is total click bait, sorry not sorry lol.

Yep. For some of us it actually takes time to even download small installers and launchers on Pc’s (I,e 100mb downloads for example) they can even take 5-10 minutes…so 20GB is a nightmare. For all you out there with fast internet in your country as standard, you should really appreciate it
While tomorrow’s update will likely still be a decent size, remember that the Memories of Reach update came with the WFF Beta so you already have a large chunk of that mode installed. That should help to reduce the size of tomorrows update a little

most box 360 backw/compat games are around 8gb, save the newer titles. whereas decent xbox one titles start around 25gb. (not counting indie games and things like a towerdefense game etc.)
Advance updating would be nice, but would ruin launch cycles.

I have a 500gb harddrive. With 9 games installed, I have 7.1gb left.
Agreed. It would be nice to have the update available to download, but have the req’s, maps, and modes, locked until Wednesday.
Even if I could preload it, it would still take a week to download. I’m not kidding.
Potato internet strikes again!
