Do you like how Reach implemented armor customization? Or how Halo 3 implemented it it?
Reach used a tac on system whereas Halo3 would swap out entire pieces of armor not like putting the shoulder on the arm like Reach…Idr know how to explain it well, but I mean everything in Reach doesnt really flow like it did in Halo 3. AND do you wish for the armor to have any effect on anything?
I liked the customisation with reach, but would rather they make the whole arm or chest change instead of part of it. And maybe more customisation with the legs aswell.
EDIT: and the armour itself is cosmetic, you choose something called Specializations that will affect gameplay.
YEah I know but i still wish my 200,000 cr shotgun bandolier made my shotgun last longer.
Halo 3.
- Had to EARN your armour pieces.
- Fewer pieces, but more SETS.
- Perms looked A LOT better.
I disliked Reach’s system because:
- the Assymetry of it all.
- being flooded with Armour perms + having to buy them = loss of all meaning.

I personally found the perms in Reach vastly superior to Halo 3, particularly the ODST armor.
I like Reach’s customization that’s what made Reach OK.

Exactly!
The Halo Reach armour just doesn’t look slick like 3. I really missed the crisp look, with the shining colors. Looks like 343 has a nice mix going on.
Don’t care. It’s not like people play Halo just to unlock armor.
Oh wait…
I liked it better in Halo 3, but I’d like to see both. Changing armor should swap out entire pieces, and we should be able to add things like bullet pouches, sniper veils, etc. over top of that (like Reach’s “tack on top” armor).
I dont mind seeing custimization not affecting gameplay. But I admit that it felt hollow to have armor pieces that said they had a function in the descritpion but didnt do squat gameplay wise.
I personally liked the way things where done in Reach, maybe its because it would be “My Spartan” that I played as, don’t get me wrong though I also liked Halo 3, but the choices in Reach were much better in my opinion for armor and the look of your spartan.
I liked both 3 and Reach’s armor versions. Both had their ups and downs, but i would not like armor to affect gameplay at all. No one should be able to have a distinct advantage just because they play more than I do.
I have a job and cant dedicate my every waking moment to halo ( even though i want to :P) and just because some kid has summer break and buys more armor doesn’t mean he should be stronger in any way.
And if different armor pieces did affect gameplay in different ways, people would start wearing specific armor into specific game types. And that would be lame
I liked all the options Reach had. There was almost nobody who had the same armor as you, so it was unique.
If the armor actually affected gameplay, then people would choose their armor based on what changes it made instead of what they wanted their Spartan to look like. I think Reach did just fine, but I think Halo 4 needs to build on it some. I don’t want it too complicated, but more options would be nice. I hope they keep some of the armor from Reach, but make it mostly stuff we haven’t seen before.
I’m not sure where I got this info from, but I heard that armor was unlocked in sets.
Meaning there’s a CQB set, Scout set, EOD set, etc.
You have to buy the set, which contains the helmet, chest, and shoulders for that set.
And then you can probably mix it up afterwards.

Man there better be more to customization than just the helm, chest, and shoulders! Utility, attachments, wrist, knees, AE, all those should remain if u ask me. Gave unparalled customization. No 2 similar spartans
Take Reach’s customization and increase it 10 fold.
I’d take Reach’s armor customization and styles over Halo 3’s any day of the week when it came to aesthetics. The biggest mistake with Reach Armor was how fat the Spartan 3s looked and the lack of skill on obtaining them via hunting skulls or meeting some list of accomplishments rather than Reach’s AFK or grinding for cR. It was like watching a tiny StayPuft Marshmellow Man with a rifle running around, while only the 343 armor additions had any merit since you had to meet Waypoint’s criteria to unlock them.
Hopefully 343 went slimmer with the player models and a new Road to Recon will debut for MM players or just hard core loot hunters looking to distinguish themselves on the onset of Halo4’s launch.

Agree.
I liked reachs customization. Hope they add a lot more to it in halo 4
Armor sets do sound cool, but i want more than just the helm chest and shoulders to tinker with.
