Since 343 is going dark and gritty for halo 4, like reach would anyone like change it to a little halo 3 style?
I want the aesthetic to be Halo 4 style.
Reach was dark?
Anyways, I want it to be more like 3. I have so many memories of Halo 3 and very few of Reach. I mostly blame map design.
it will be new no matter what, but if i had to choose… definitely halo 3 style for sure. despised halo reach multiplayer and story. the only thing good was firefight. halo 3 fealt more like the previous two. i need to feel like a supersoldier again, not its cheap knockoff that needs abilities to live.
> I want the aesthetic to be Halo 4 style.
plus the art direction reminded me more of halo 3 than reach in the sneak peek vidoc. it looked unique, change can be a good thing.
A combination
I like the bright colors of Halo 3 environments but Reach had some pretty cool night scenes, and enemies looked way more badass.
When Halo 3 was released it wasn’t exactly up to par in the graphics department with other games at the time. Reach on the other hand has a much better and authentic art style with much better overall details. I always enjoy watching (and listening) to the game since release.
Halo 3 wasn’t bad, but it did ended up looking slightly dated much faster.
halo 2 or halo 3,
if halo 4 is like reach… then halo is dead

Completely agree.
Neither. Halo 2.
Halo 3 definitely, but I suspect the game will be like reach and if it is then I won’t be buying it!
I want it to be itself, not try to be a past game.
> Reach was dark?
Why do you think Reach wasn’t dark? The whole campaign was about epic failures of the UNSC. All character from Noble Team died. Everything was a catastrophe. It was humanitys biggest failure against the Covenant.
Nevermind, back to topic:
In the OXM(Official Xbox Magazine) interview, Frank was asked, if he could compare the gameplay to the other Halo’s what would be the most similiar game that fits with Halo 4 and he answered Halo 2 and Halo 3.
But still, I don’t think it will feel like Halo 2 or Halo 3, because Halo 4 will feel like Halo 4. I don’t know how it will be, when I start to playing the 1st time, but I know it’s going to be a little bit different and amazing.
I hope the game will be fun to play and can last longer for me, because I have lost the interest in Reach after the 1st year and I’m only playing, because my friends are…
Reach looked very cool, I liked the style.
But it wasn’t the style I like in Halo games. Reach didn’t feel like Halo to me.
The maps looked vibrant and colorful it is just the sounds are punchier

I wouldn’t say it was “dark” myself. I’d use words like “gritty” and “earthy”.
My thoughts are that H3 had an ambiguous quality, it was almost timeless. This i think can mainly be attributed to Bungies aesthetic.
The move to a more “photorealistic” Chief I feel removes the mystque of doing the best with a limited palet, somehow the artist must use the game engine limitations to better illustrate “the vision” of his or her imagination.
Bloomkamp had the right approach to live action, his shorts are beautifully realised and fit his own view of a rubble filled battlefield, but H3 is vivid and the tightly realised backgrounds showcase the hard edges of Chiefs armour by blending enviroments to make sense of a “Hyper Realised” world.
The often cited COD is not realistic in any sense, although Gamers often say they like it for its realism, the eye is only one part of the equasion that makes a video game come to life.
If the realism is the chaotic politics of the world then yes COD does succeed but to claim that it looks more realistc is false. Sound is the best friend of a game.
Instnctively you hear a door “swoosh” and a few “beeps” and your are aboard a spaceship.
The soundtrack heavy Halo series is well conceived no other game has a better knowledge of this, how 343 mimic this is paramount, the strings and violins drive the emotion and help with player commitment.
So in summary I will say that I can only judge what I have seen, think it would be foolish of me to make a proper judgement until I have seen a Halo Ring brought to life by 343.
The skybox is king.
If you think halo reach was good more than likely you are a COD person… Reach was like getting nuked as far as disaster games go.
It’s not really Reach style, just look at it. It’s more Halo 2 style. Which is GOOD.
Halo 3’s artistic style is the best in the series.
