What is really annoying me is the fact I can’t play Halo 5 as soon as I bring it home on the 27th. I have chosen the Physical Limited Edition so I get a disk with my copy of Halo 5, meaning when I get home I have to wait hours for the game to install my Xbox. In my opinion people who pre-order the game (be it online or in store), should get a code to be able to pre-download. The game won’t be playable until the disk is inserted in the console on release day. This saves fans the painful hours they have to watch Halo 5 install on their Xboxs. I think there is still time for 343 to arrange such a thing. So please 343 let us all pre-download Halo 5 and any other Halo’s in the future!

This. They are letting you predownload a week in advance for select versions. It’s a perk for ordering those versions.

Lol if a ~50gig install off a disc takes you hours, you need to have your console serviced because it sounds like your HDD is dying. A install that size shouldn’t take longer than 20-30 mins.

Exactly, I got the xbox, which comes with early access, and a new harddrive to fill with games, works perfect. lol

can’t wait. Im kicking myself because I have all the others (Reach) box was kinda cool but I’ve gone digital now.will purchase a H5 toy to make up for it

By the way, there are multiple versions of the game which are offering what you’re asking for. Maybe spend a little less time complaining and a little more time keeping informed.
this is the reality, you knew the limitations of physical media when you pre-ordered it, and i knew the limitations of digital media. you accepted that you would have to mess around on release before you could play and i accepted that i can’t trade in or lend it to friends… or loose it, damage/break it, have it stolen or need to take it with me to play at friends houses just re download it… yea going digital was definitely a better choice in my opinion. you wanted physical deal with its limitations.

This is not a thing that’s under 343i’s control, every game on current and last gen consoles cannot be pre-downloaded with the physical versions. This is because disk versions are not locked via any drm mechanisms (besides online-only), so if you receive your disk before launch date, you would be able to play it early (before the day one patch and before the servers are online). Only digital versions of the game have the option to pre-download. If you want that to change you should address Microsoft, not 343i.
So you bought it physically, but you want the benefits of buying it digitally…

I’m with you OP. I love going to the midnight releases, coming straight home, putting the disk and my Xbox, and playing the damn game. Sadly those days are over. This is a new console generation issue not a 343 issue.
Insert the disc when you get home, go take a dump, return, and voila. It doesn’t take long to install off of a disc, man.
