Ok hear me out; I think that Microsoft/343 are waiting for the Halo TV series premiere to drop any new info they might have regarding future content. I think they’re hoping the show generates some hype for the game and hopefully improve numbers, even if only for a short time.
Think about it, if the show is any good and the reviews are favorable they might ride the show’s coattails to come out and be like “Hey, if you like show check out the game and all this SPARKLY NEW STUFF that’s on the way!!!”
If that’s the case a lot is riding on this “Silver timeline” but given the sad state of things what more do they have to lose?
Btw, if this is all true there had better be a 2001 Chevy Tahoe in forge…

I think the TV show and the games will be aimed at different audiences. Gamers want a scene for scene recreation of Halo games, any deviation whatsoever and they will be outraged. Following the games as closely as humanly possible is what gamers watching the show will expect and this just isn’t realistic when it comes to movies or tv shows. No matter how loyal or true a movie or TV show has been to the source material, they have ALWAYS had to change SOMETHING in the video games/books to make it more fluid and life-like on the silver screen. Two completely different monsters require different plans of action.
A lot of the people who are going to watch the new TV show are going to be new to the franchise and will be the folks who have already subscribed to Paramount+ before Halo was dedicated to that platform. Then there will be the diehard Halo fans who will watch it just to check it out.
Personally, with how poorly written and executed 343’s trilogy was, the TV show really can’t be that much worse lol I’m gonna watch it just to see what it’s about. It’s already confirmed for a second season… which is weird but not surprising.
They just posted an update

I think they were waiting for a friday where people would be drunk and numb to the pain of the empty void they had to offer. Then they gave Joe Staten a little kick and said “it’s really best if they hear this from you,” and now he gets to watch as the last remaining drops of the fan-base’s trust in him dissolve in front of his eyes.
My faith in the Halo franchise is fading, but look at the adaptations of comic books, the DC and Marvel movies and games along with the bond movies and games might not match up 1 to 1 with the source material but are mostly great on their own.

My faith was fading more and more with every 343 release. I’ve personally laid the Halo franchise to rest. I have given up and accepted the loss.
My point was that I don’t think most people care if the latest Batman aligns with the 1940s Batman. Who is the real Joker or the real Robin? cause there’s so many names associated with them and at one point even Alfred was the Joker, but Comic books at least have the multiverse as an excuse to change characters. I’m just saying that the show might be good, even if Cortana doesn’t look like Cortana even though it’s canonical that she can change her appearance, the other aspects like the origin of finding halo not aligning with the lore is a different story but it can still be a great story.
