I have read a little bit about the precursors in the forerunner saga and was wondering where (Or better if) the precursors are mentioned or explained in more detailed in any other official cannon medium?
Thanks guys!

The Forerunner Saga is where the bulk of details on the Precursors comes from - mountains upon mountains of both abstract and detailed hints, implications, and possibilities.
They were first mentioned in Halo 3’s Bestarium in the Technology Tiers section, Tier Zero being the Forerunners’ project “theoretical ceiling” which only the Precursors had ever achieved.
While not referred to by name, the IsoDidact mentions them in Halo 3’s Terminals as well:
> We can halt this thing! And we can follow in Their footsteps!
Outside of that, there’s not really anything else - I think there’s the briefest of mentions somewhere in The Thursday War, but nothing substantial. Most of the other details you’ll get will come from Flood-centric literature, like Human Weakness, as details about the Flood is very much interwoven with the Precursors.
They are never fully explained; all we know is that they are the flood.
I think they have one of the most interesting storylines in all of Halo, and really hope we get more on them.
Thanks everyone!

I don’t recall this, what was the quote?

Expertly answered and summarized. This is your best bet, op.
Pretty much all Precursor information is in the Forerunner trilogy. Flood are Precursors but not all Precursors are Flood.

Actually if you read stuff on Halopedia, there are several pretty deep histories of the Precursurs of what we currently know. I read about it a couple weeks ago, and its incredibly fascinating! I wonder…who actually wrote that lore of the Halo Universe? Bungie or 343? If it was Bungie, then they had a SERIOUSLY thought out game lore, but it it was 343 filling in gaps, then my gosh…

Go check out Halopedia…there are TONS of stuff about the lore and the races in Halo that it will be guaranteed to blow you mind.
Precusors are a species unlike any other. They were a very advanced species, and were more ancient than the forerunners. They had the power to take on any form they desire. They had technology tier 0 (there are 7 tiers, tier 7 species are the least advanced species, and tier 0 species were the most advanced species). The precursors were the only species to reach tier 0.
They originally came from outside the milky way, and arrived here trillions of years ago. They later created the forerunners, and were responsible for creating all other life in the milky way. Over time they would decide which species was worthy of the mantle (role of gaudian ship of all life).
The precursors later chose the forerunners, but later decided they weren’t worthy of the role, and instead chose humanity. The forerunner were extremely angry , and waged war on the precursors. The forerunners drove the precursors to extinction, and only a few escaped.
The precursors that escaped created a dust that gave them super strength and the ability to come back from the dead, thus creating the flood.
The dust the precursors created later became corrupt and made the precursors go insane. The forerunner then created halo rings to wipe out every sentient being in the galaxy, including the flood, the forerunners collected DNA from every species and stored the in contaners, so they return after the firing of the halo rings. ( the forerunners also kept a small sample of the flood in the halo ring for research).
Later in halo CE, when the covenant landed in the halo ring, they accidentally let the sample go and released the flood again, since then the flood started infecting the galaxy all over again.
Later on in halo 3, the chief and arby stopped the flood.
I forgot to mention, that the gravemind may also be a precursor
