I’m sure many of you have read Primordium by now, so correct me if I’m wrong, but wasn’t it hinted that there are other Precursors still alive somewhere? So possibly they return in Halo 4?

I’m still confused by what I read. Was the timeless one a true Precursor, or was he a special kind of Gravemind? Or are precursors just graveminds? Seriously, that book had so much crazy info at the end I didnt quite process it all.
In reference to Halo 4 I think primordium made it quite clear that the Didact and Precursors/Flood will play a major part in the Reclaimer trilogy. I didnt think the didact would be in it at all but when they were interviwing Chakas/Spark(confused there too, how’d they get sparks body of Installation 04B?) he says at one point the didact is giving humanity trouble.

That is the point, I think that we are not supposed to know what the precursors really were, although I do believe that they were separate and the primordial (ancient one, timeless one, what ever you want to call him) was just imitating one of them
I also believe that the monitor that they uncovered was a different monitor because they talk about weather it has any link to 343 guilty spark, spark/chakas then later says to them that another form of himself gave them trouble, I believe that there are multiple sparks
I hope so. It seems like they’re actually going to be a scary enemy, something we haven’t seen since Halo CE.
what do you mean a scary enemy since Halo CE? do you mean the flood cause as far as i know the precursors arent in halo 1 or else we would know who they are and what they are.
P.S. the precursors are gonna be in the new halo trilogy or else NO ONE would have said any thing about them! not even the name

Yes, the Timeless one is the last precursor claimed to be alive. The Precursors knew all about the flood and wanted It’s revenge against the Forerunners for killing all the Precursors. Only the Precursors knew the cure or counter measures against the Flood.
When the Pre-Human’s Interrogated the Prisoner he told the cure to the Pre-Human’s.
It’s most likely Halo 4 is going to be about Forerunners/Precursors/and the Flood.

The Precursors were always said to be able to travel between galaxies. And after they created the Forerunners, the Forerunners betrayed and destroyed them. So, in a last effort the Precursors created the Flood to kill them. And what direction did the flood arrive from? The MAGELLANIC CLOUD!!
(check out this page and scroll down to Origins: NameBright - Coming Soon) So I think its just like what the Forerunners did; they were doomed, so they abandoned the galaxy, and killed everything they left behind, to exterminate their enemies…
But since 343 confirmed Forerunners in-game, and the Flood arrived from far away i think theyre both still ALIVE!!!
It would be good if they made a return in Halo 5 or 6.
Don’t know about Halo 4, but they’ll definitely be in 5 or 6.

AIs can split themselves up: Cortana has done it before, BB does it in Glasslands, and the numerous other AIs in the universe have done it too, I’m sure. Not least Mendicant Bias, according to some speculation.
Speaking of speculation, one of my theories is that the Precursors created the Flood to eliminate the arrogant usurpers, the Forerunners, but the Flood, in turn, attacked the Precursors for creating a weapon with which to eliminate their enemies. That may be something to which the Primordial refers. Or the Precursors sought eternal life and/or the next step in evolution and/or the vengeance upon the Forerunners for themselves and intentionally became Flood-infected.
It does mention in the First Look: halo 4 Vidoc, it does mention that master chief will have to face an ancient evil which face the threat of the universe and will test even his limits, this could be a possibility of precursors or it could be something far, far worse.

That was an invaluable addition.
It’ll most likely be Humans and Forerunners versus the Precursors (and eventually the Flood later in the series, just more evolved).
No one knows for certain yet.
