This image has been floating around recently, it’s a still from the recently reveled trailer for the second half of Spartan Ops season one (if anyone has a link to that, I would love to actually see it). Many are saying that this is a Flood structure, but it looks to metallic to be flood, and there is no other sign of Flood infection anywhere else in the picture. After all, there is a likely Precursor artifact in the map Impact, that alone seems to hint that they’re starting to build upon the Precursors. Perhaps we’ll find the Organon in Spartan Ops?
Perhaps Requiem is the last haven for Precursor technology, or we might even travel away from Requiem. According to the Primordial, the Precursors essentially are the Flood, so it would make sense that their structures are similar. I think that the Precursors might have made the flood as infections forms of themselves in a way.
EDIT:
The new trailer reveals a few things. Specifically another shot of the mystery object. It opens up, likely after Crimson activates the console in the middle of the image, and there appears to be an Elite inside. That pretty much rules out the idea of it being anything of Flood descent. The shape is too detailed and crustacean-looking for it to be like any Covenant or Forerunner object as we know them. I’m pretty sure it’s a Precursor artifact.
But, that’s not all it revealed. There seems to be a few missions located in this area, and there also appears to be something else that is very strange in the area. It appears to be a floating island, but it’s hard to tell if anything but the top is “natural” or not. It does appear to have a waterfall coming off of it though. Here’s some more shots of the surrounding area, maybe they’ll give us some clues:

I’m thinking that nothing would really be explained all that much to keep the mystery, but it would just be said that these are more ancient than the Forerunners. Assuming this is Precursor.
I too thought it was a Scarab at first, but under closer inspection the “legs” seem to be attached to the ground, and also don’t really seem to connect to the body.
Such a interesting creature, perhaps we will indeed get new enemies to fight in Spartan Ops, apart from the familiars.
The thing definitely looks like the description of Precursor Artifacts, it looks somewhat Biological yet, Machine as well. This image, is so good, you can clearly see a Promethean in the bottom right corner, but the sky kind of strays from the normal Requiem sky in my opinion.
To me this link looks like concept art for The Gate.
It is possible this thing is Precursor in origin though. They do need to be introduced and they have a connection to the Flood which needs to be fully realized. In fact, this could honestly be why the Greg Bear novel was pushed back. Think about it, the book was coming out in early January yet Spartan Ops is now on hold and will be back sometime mid to late January so they may want to set this all up in Spartan Ops to introduce us to them in the flesh and then the full details will come out in the novel afterwards.
> Very optimistic and probably very wrong. I doubt they would have saved a whole new enemy class for SpOps alone. That would be dumb.
Who said we had to meet the new enemy class? This would introduce us to the Precursors in general, (not everyone read the books), and hint at what is actually to come in the next game.

Sorry, I misunderstood your comment. I hope you’re right.
Precursors eclipse the Forerunners in terms of coolness (as enemies).
Well the legs do look scarab like but the head looks organic. That organic look does not match up to the lekgolo worm that makes up a scarab. So this thing is probably(hopefully) not a scarab.
