I was looking at the cover for Halo Escalation issue 16 and what I saw surprised me. I believe the creature on the cover is a precursor. It fits the description perfectly!
It looks too large and has a circular axis on it’s leg, which is a mechanical quality, not an organic one. It seems like a really bad place to officially show a precursor aswell. I’m guessing that was a very deliberate attempt to stir up hype, but it’ll actually be a ship. I just don’t see them doing it yet.
I will say though, that is a gorgeous design and is perfect for a precursor if it is one. The detail on the forehead is so well drawn, it kind of looks like those are it’s actual eyes.

that actually cleared my mind, i was trying to think what it was, it didnt make sense to me, but suddenly you said harvester and i made the connection instantly.

It’s not the first time that was thought to be Precursor. Back when it was shown in Spartan Ops everyone thought it was a Precursor.

Its called “The Harvester” something used by the Covenant, controlled by Lekgolo and (as it defines) harvests things… :3
