I feel like the general demographic that CoD appeals to is the type of gamer that wouldn’t preorder the game until they get drawn in by the mass marketing campaign one week before release.
I want both Black Ops II and Halo 4 to do good!
Were you expecting halo to out perform cod in sales? Not a chance, cod is just too popular.
CoD, will inevitably win in terms of high numbers. But I don’t care. Whoever plays that pile of -Yoink- can stay there. I don’t want them contaminating Halo.
It’d help if 343i would up their marketing campaign. Youtube ads, TV ads, that sort of thing.
I’m not much of a CoD person- the last one I enjoyed even remotely was MW2, and that was nowhere near as enjoyable as the MW1 experience. However, seeing a YT ad for the game? Even I was enticed a little. CoD’s trying to say “Hey I’m different!” and even if that’s not the case? The marketing is selling it off as somewhat different. New.
Where are my Halo 4 Youtube ads? Where are my TV ads? Halo 4’s preorders would likely shoot right back up there if 343i would just release a decent advertisement already. 8 weeks out from going gold, you CAN NOT be dawdling around without a decent advert.

i think all the ads are going to start up soon maybe next week or two halo has really never been out done when it comes to advertising

There is a trailer that is going to be shown in cinemas all across America in a couple of weeks, and probably later on for the UK and other countries. They will probably release a TV ad about a month or two before release aswell.
oh, looks like BO2 is taking the lead, if you combine all the platforms together of course.
i still need to pre-order my LTD of halo 4, keep forgetting to go down to the shop and do it.

And you’d be correct in that assumption. Call of Duty generally has its preorders spike hugely in the month before release, even more so than most other games.

In elite voice: Traitor!
lol jk
You need to wait for halo’s massive marketing campaign to kick in. Look at the reach graph, it was going steady but then it shot upward around week 9, in the cod mw3 and bo graph they pretty much go steady the entire time except for a big leap around week 3 like all games. Once halo 4’s marketing comes in around week 9 its pre orders will skyrocket like reaches. Cod’s strategy is an earlier but more spread out campaign with a bunch of small ads coming in from the moment its announced to when it comes out. Halos strategy is few ads early but then an enormous amount of advertising a few months before release. But even if cod does beat halo 4s pre orders. There’s one good thing coming out of this, bo 2 is getting beaten by mw3, halo 4 is beating reach. cod is shrinking, halo is growing.

Thats because all the mammys and daddys go running to shops to buy them as xmas gifts in case they sell out before xmas
I would have to agree that marketing does have an impact on it. Just about every time I log into youtube, there’s almost always a CoD: BO 2 ad somewhere in the visit.
A few days ago, I was talking with a co-worker about Halo and even he didn’t know there was a Halo 4 coming out, and thought Reach was the last Halo to be made.
I’m no real business expert, but I know at least a few ads can help out with sells if the word gets out better outside of a few sites or conventions.
That is excellent news!!!
The LESS COD players playing Halo 4 is FINE WITH ME.
Of course CoD is going to sell more. It’s only pulling ahead now because it’s on three platforms. Halo 4 used to have more preorders on one platform than all of BO2’s.
Man, I went to EB games, and they’re were two halo 4 banners inside.
EVERYTHING ELSE in the store was covered with black ops two.
It seems like 343i need to make themselves known, like call of duty does.
Launch is coming up very quickly so they should really get their -Yoink- together soon
Well all the little Johnnys finally convinced their moms to preorder the New ‘CaLl oF DuTy’ for them.
It was inevitable, but still awesome that Halo 4 kept 1st for so long.
At that rate… maybe a couple weeks before Halo 4 is passed.
But remember… this is just the US.
I’m not 100% sure but I think Microsoft handles all the advertising they are the publisher after all. No doubt that Microsoft will have some decent ad time for this game.
