Pre odered xbox one

Well my preorder with amazon is in! I really had to read through a lot of garbage articles to figure out what system I wanted. so much misinformation out there right now. My reasoning for xbox over ps4:

  1. exclusives - halo + titanfall (sure PC too but I only play FPS on consoles).

  2. Multimedia - If I am spending a few hundred on one of these things I expect it to do more than play games. I am excited for the multimedia features and they do sell me. I felt like sony dropped the ball here. MS is really going to shine in this area and i cant wait to put my apple tv in my bedroom and put my xbox one in my living room as its replacement.

  3. xbox live - what can i say, its always been better then PSN. Now that PSN will be the same price I dont see how anyone can justify it considering it was down for 3+ weeks last year.

  4. I only play online. All ps4 games that are online will require online access so the always online doesnt phase me. Plus all PC games I have played for require always online. Who doesnt play games online? I have for many years now…maybe since 2007. I pretty much have awesome internet everywhere I go so its not a complaint. I am surprised people are not mad that these systems require always electricity:)

  5. Installing games. Just like every PC game I have to install. This is actually awesome. I can now go to a friends and just sign in to play my game. No need to use disks anymore - welcome to 2013 MS. The cloud is the way to go. This was a major selling point for me. I felt like sony actually went backwards here. their cloud is very limited and wont be available until some point in 2014

  6. used games - yea i dont buy them. gamestop is causing an increase in prices. stop supporting them. they are hurting all game publishers, especially the smaller ones. suppport game developers not gamestop.

  7. Kinect - I dont really care much for kinect but after thinking about, its kinda nice. it will be fun to mess around with. and no its not always on or recording you, you can set it to do what you want. it will also be kinda cool to skype with people like my family on tv vs my ipad.

i preordered too, but im hoping to sell a day one xbox for a jacked up price during xmas as people miss out on it because of the misled media. the launch titles aren’t very exciting to me.

i think you could add the steam effect to your list. pc games used to be just like console games: 50 to 60 bucks. but now on steam they are 5 to 30. i saw a great article that argued used games do more financial harm to console publishers then pirating software on a pc did. if that is the case you can expect the same price drop.

they really should have had a second sku for $20 to $50 cheaper that lacked a blu ray drive. most people who want blu ray have it. a lot of people are excited to go discless. i know i will never be buying a disc again. my only guess is it is closer to that $20 range of price savings and they figured not worth it.

im like you. all the cons (internet requirements) aren’t a con for me. and i really dont see how they are a con for all these people complaining. i get that some military people, people in rural areas, and people in certain countries are going to be left out in the cold when it comes to xbox one. but all these people complaining aren’t them.

Nice, I want to pre order one but I’m waiting until next year for Halo and hopefully price lower

It would be awesome if they did have a lower price for buying games online. Even $10 lower would be huge for the console market. I agree the exclusives do not interest me either but if destiny comes out this year i would much rather have that on one than 360. i will probably just end up with bf4 and COD.

I was thinking of doing this too until I realized that they did not release a 2nd version of the 360 until almost a year and a half after release and a cheaper version until almost 2 years after release. I figure if i am getting it, i might as well enjoy it for as long as possible.

Ill be pre-ordering mine after I get back from Vegas in july. And like the OP stated. For any one who played PC the xbox one “requirements” are nothing new in the least. I still think its funny how PS people still try to claim there network is free when there is a fee now. Xbox did take one of there ideas i like. The free games will be nice.

Just thought I would let you all know what developers are thinking…

I have now spoken with two game developers who reiterated a lot of what I mentioned. They told me at this point they are actually happy MS is taking a stand against piracy and that might lead to better relationships with the big development companies…but it has yet to be seen but could have a big impact on release dates, pricing, and exclusives. They also said there is a possibility of lower priced games for xbox one (digital download) if the piracy settings work and MS plays their cards right. Overall they said both systems looked promising but that they could not judge performance yet until they start developing for them and can compare side by side. They also told me the always online/download install etc were laughable as every PC has the same requirements and they sounded pretty sure MS would have some kind of option for people going on vacation or military people.
